NASA space data supports citizens' observations: Meteor fireballs are increasing dramatically
SOTT.net, 09 January 2016 2016
SOTT.net last looked in detail at the frequency of meteor fireballs in 2013, using the data garnered by the American Meteor Society (AMS). SOTT.net pointed out the increasing frequency of fireballs1, and asked the question: "What does 2014 have in store?"

Well, the results are in, and the answer is simple: comparing 2014 to 2013, the frequency of fireballs increased by 120%. Comparing 2015 to 2014, fireballs increased by 20%. That is a significant increase, and it should be generating a lot of attention. If it is, then it's being done very quietly behind closed doors.

Americans warned of imminent, deadly meteor strikes
World Net Daily, 14th January 2014
With NASA reporting a “potentially hazardous” asteroid nearly half-a-mile wide possibly heading toward earth, and some upstate New Yorkers claiming they experienced a loud boom and a bright light in the sky last night caused by a meteor, a doctors’ organization is offering some timely advice:

Just as when the American populace first prepared for the possibility of a nuclear blast, a person’s best option for surviving a meteor strike is the same “duck and cover” created during the 1940s and ’50s when nuclear weaponry was still in its infancy.

The warning comes from Physicians for Civil Defense, which issued a statement recently during a meeting of the Emergency Management Agency of Utah.
“All Americans, starting with first responders and emergency managers, need to know this basic life-saving principle: ‘Drop and cover if you see a sudden very bright light,’” said the statement from the organization’s spokeswoman, Jane Orient, M.D.

Comment:
Hmmmm.... Take cover! Meteor fireballs rain down across U.S. - Outbreaks of wildfires reported Based on continuous mainstream media reports, I think we can now say there is a high level of panic amongst disaster planners concerning the high probability of a small asteroid that can't be detected, which strikes our atmosphere with devastating consequences. I think the advice to duck to avoid being blinded by the light is very important. Also see: Asteroid 2014 AY32 passes the Earth before being discovered.

This footage from multiple locations thru the Chelyabinsk city suddenly hit by the shockwave of the last Friday meteorite can illustrate how really it would be to witness some apocalyptic event of either man made or other mass destruction and panic. People caught in their offices, schools, workshops all in one moment break their daily routines and get a panic shock of different degree.

Small asteroid 2014 AA hit the Earth's atmosphere
Remanzacco Observatory, 2nd January 2014
M.P.E.C. 2014-A02 issued on 2014 Jan. 2 at 13:08 UT reports the discovery of the asteroid 2014 AA (discovery magnitude 19.1) by Mt. Lemmon Survey (MPC code G96 - Observer R. A. Kowalski) on images taken on January 1.2 with a 1.5-m reflector + CCD. 2014 AA (that is the very first asteroid discovered in 2014) had an estimated size of 1.7 m - 3.8 m (based on the object's absolute magnitude H=30.9).

As reported on this MPEC:
It is virtually certain that 2014 AA hit the Earth's atmosphere on 2014 Jan. 2.2 +/- 0.4, as demonstrated by independent calculations by Bill Gray, the MPC and Steve Chesley (JPL).  According to Chesley, the impact locations are widely distributed, most likely falling on an arc extending from Central America to East Africa, with a best-fit location just off the coast of West Africa on Jan. 2.10.  2014 AA was unlikely to have survived atmospheric entry intact, as it was comparable in size to 2008 TC3, the only other example of an impacting object observed prior to atmospheric entry.

Comment:

Meteorite impact instead of shooting stars? Russian researchers: Comet ISON brings another surprise
In The Sky News, 2nd December 2013
Google Translation: An interesting turn in the case of Comet ISON: Sergei Smirnov, spokesman for the Observatory Pulkovo announced in St. Petersburg, lost the "century comet" in his "Kiss" with the sun, although a hundred times in brightness , but was by no means completely destroyed. Is that the comet's tail can still be seen "in the form of a little contrasted elongated cloud" means that the comet was not disintegrate into a cloud of dust, but that continue after the destruction of the core of ISON larger chunks of the celestial body course on the earth take. [...]

"It might even be serious,"

"The inhabitants of the earth, a surprise awaits New Year's Eve," [...] expected in the form of a shooting star night - or a potentially momentous meteorite crash. "New Year's Eve, but also of 2 up to 4 January 2014 is to be expected an increased meteor activity. This can manifest itself as a bright flare of tiny meteors in the sky when these burn up in the Earth's atmosphere. But even more threatening manifestations such as a meteor shower can not be excluded, "the representative of the Russian observatory is convinced.
Low and behold it look like astronomers were watching out as this is only the 2nd asteroid hit recorded before it hit the atmosphere.... That is some coincidence right? Besides that, NASA have told us to expect the little known Quadrantids, that will be battering us over New Year... Quadrantids open new meteor season for 2014, then there are the now usual reports of meteors and loud booms. There are many other reports, some can be found at SOTT.net Fire In The Sky.

Comet ISON: A cloud of dust, or is it dust embedded with big metallic chunks of a disintegrated nucleus?
Spaceweather.com, 6th December 2013
THE GHOST OF COMET ISON: On Friday, Dec. 6th, leading researchers from NASA's Comet ISON Observing Campaign (CIOC) held an informal workshop at the Johns Hopkins Applied Physics Lab. One of the key questions they discussed was, Did Comet ISON survive? It might seem surprising that anyone is still asking. After all, the "comet" that emerged from the sun's atmosphere on Thanksgiving day appeared to be little more than a disintegrating cloud of dust. This movie from the STEREO-A spacecraft (processed by Alan Watson) shows the V-shaped cloud fading into invisibility on Dec. 1st:

The answer hinges on the contents of that cloud. Is it nothing more than a cloud of dust--or could there be some some fragments of the disintegrated nucleus still intact and potentially active?

A key result announced at the workshop comes from SOHO, the Solar and Heliospheric Observatory. According to the spacecraft's SWAN instrument, the comet stopped producing so-called Lyman alpha photons soon after its closest approach to the sun. Karl Battams of the CIOC explains what this means: "Without getting technical, Lyman-Alpha is a consequence of sunlight interacting with hydrogen, and if we are not seeing that interaction then it means that the levels of hydrogen (and hence ice) are extremely low. This is indicative of a completely burned out nucleus, or no nucleus at all."

"The evidence appears strong that at some point approaching perihelion - whether days or hours - Comet ISON likely began to completely fall apart," he continues. "What remains of ISON now is going to be either just a cloud of dust, or perhaps a few very depleted chunks of nucleus. Either way, it's not going to flare up at this point and we should assume the comet's show is over."

"However, we do need to verify this," says Battams. "Hopefully the Hubble team can come to the rescue! In mid-December, Hubble will be pointed in the direction of where ISON should be and they'll try and image something. If no fragments are surviving, or they are tiny, then Hubble will not be able to find anything, but that negative detection will tell us something: namely that ISON is indeed gone for good.

Comment:
The discussion elsewhere is a completely different interpretation of the data and that no ice means Comet ISON could be metallic... So, it's not the lack of a light show that the citizens of Earth need to worry about, its the existence of big chunks of metallic rubble that could drop as Comet ISON flies over Earth's north pole... We saw just how huge Comet ISON's debris field was when it was electrified by CMEs on leaving perihelion... see image icon; Earth would be a small dot in comparison. That is why the Russians are worried... But of course, the flyover of a disintegrated comet with a huge debris field is not mentioned here because it is assumed most people cannot link up disparate information and think through the implications...

  • Have we seen the last of Comet ISON?
Comet ISON is now thought to be a traveling debris field, with no solid nucleus or core. Will we see the debris field from Earth? No one knows yet.
    EarthSky News, 6th December 2013
UPDATE DECEMBER 6, 2013. As Comet ISON pulled away from its close encounter with the sun on November 28, it first brightened and then faded again. For a couple of days now, ISON has been missing in action – out of the field of view of NASA sun-observing spacecraft – and not yet visible to earthly observers, not even the Hubble Space Telescope. It is now believed that Comet ISON has become little more than a traveling field of debris in space, still following the path of the original comet.

    Electric Comet ISON - Revealed
Above Top Secret, 3rd December 2013
Comment: There is a long thread at ATS and I don't have time to go through it but some of the info is very interesting. On page 20 or thereabouts, the discussion has moved on to whether Comet ISON is metallic, thus explaining why NASA astronomers are not getting the results expected from an icy rock.

  • Comet ISON Mysteries Continue
    YouTube, 8th December 2013

    Comment:
Wal Thornhill gives an Electric Comet explanation concerning some of the mysteries with Comet ISON and at the same time manages to diss James McCanney over Mars going comet... For those who don't know. There is intense rivalry between McCanney and Thornhill et al. McCanney published his comet papers in the early 1980s in his Cornhill university days using real data from space probes, a long time before Thornhill had a chance to publish anything relevant concerning Electric Universe theory, but quite frankly Thornhill et al. are far less antagonistic towards the scientific establishment... In the scientific world, many dissenting voices are usually required to force a paradigm shift...

Fate of Comet ISON Uncertain After Fiery Sun Encounter
Space.com, 2nd December 2013
The celestial saga continues for Comet ISON, which crept close to the sun like the fabled Icarus, only to apparently survive the encounter at first. But whether the comet will once again be visible to stargazers is far from certain.

On Thanksgiving Day (Nov. 28), many amateur and professional astronomers declared that Comet ISON was dead after the comet flew within 684,000 miles (1.1 million km) of the sun. But on Friday, to paraphrase Mark Twain: "The report of Comet ISON's death was an exaggeration." [...]

Could Comet ISON become a "headless wonder"

If Comet ISON does reappear in the morning sky, would it still maintain some sort of a head or coma, or more likely just a tail? If it's the latter, then perhaps we will see something akin to the "Great Southern Comet of January 1887." This sungrazing comet was described as a faint narrow ribbon of light which contracted near the sun but with no trace of a head or condensation.

Comment:
The point here is despite all the headlines from spaceweather.com and others screaming that Comet ISON has died, the reality is Comet ISON still exists in a different form. Even though it is not lit up like a fairy light on a Christmas tree, due to intense electrical conditions, (normally associated with planetary alignments and there is a major alignment of at least 5 planets coming up in early January 2014), this baby could light up again.... These astronomers are NOT fudging the issue, hence the cautious warning expressed in this article...
  • Comet ISON nears Perihelion
    Spaceweather.com, 2nd December 2013
COMET ISON, R.I.P.: Following its Thanksgiving Day brush with solar fire, sundiving Comet ISON is now just a cloud of dust. Among experts, a consensus is building that the comet broke apart shortly before perihelion (closest approach to the sun). In the movie, note how rapidly the comet fades just before it vanishes behind the occulting disk of the SOHO coronagraph:

After perihelion, the comet emerges as a diffuse remnant of its former self. No one knows for sure what is inside that fan-shaped cloud. Possibilities include a small remnant nucleus or a "rubble pile" of furiously vaporizing fragments. By the end of the day on Nov. 28th, Comet ISON was spent.

As of Dec. 2nd, the cloud of debris is no brighter than a star of approximately 8th magnitude. Experienced astrophotographers might be able to capture the comet's fading "ghost" in the pre-dawn sky of early December, but a naked-eye spectacle is out of the question.

  • Meteorite impact instead of shooting stars?
Had the comet survived the sun passage notwithstanding, he had on 24 December orbit crossed in secure 65 million kilometers away. The fact that the core of ISON broken into pieces, according to the experts has led to a sharp slowdown and a change in the web. The comet tail and the fragments of that due to the original date of perigee "Advent comet" ISON itself according to Smirnov reach Earth orbit a week late.

    "It might even be serious,"
"The inhabitants of the earth, a surprise awaits New Year's Eve," the researchers, the comet with the Russian fairy-tale figure Snegurochka (German: "Snow Maiden"), the faithful companion of Ded Moroz, compare. Retrieved from "Snegurochka" was either a friendly "farewell smile" to be expected in the form of a shooting star night - or a potentially momentous meteorite crash.

Christmas surprise: shooting stars or meteor?
Astronomers can reduce the likelihood of such an event after careful observation of the speed and brightness of the comet fragments indicate so Smirnov on. The last date for more accurate predictions is the 24th December, when the ISON-cloud crosses the orbit.

"It could be serious," said the spokesman of the Pulkovo Observatory. A not uninteresting for mystics, astrologers and Eschatologen fact: The Earth needs the left by ISON comet cloud according to Russian sources, probably on 4 January 2014 through hike - at the same time a planet Parade: Mercury , Venus , Earth, Jupiter and Pluto . located on at this time - albeit on a very generous thick - line with the sun , the comet S/2012 (ISON) was in September 2012 by the Russian astronomer Artyom Nowitschonok and his Belarusian colleague Vitaly Nevsky in the observatory Kislovodsk (North Caucasus) have been discovered. Comment:
Hmmm... This translation is bad but it seems German astronomers are quoting Russian astronomers who think a chunk of Comet ISON could hit Earth.... Of course the Russians take any possible meteor strike seriously, they have the recent arrival of the unannounced Chelyabinsk meteor burnt into their consciousness... The possibility of a big meteor strike explains why NASA want to pretend this object is dead and has gone away because there is nothing much that people can do without causing alarm... Whatever, these astronomers are confirming that Comet ISON has changed course, but its the sprinkling of Comet ISON debris and dust and the planetary alignment that is making these astronomers wonder out loud... On the 4th January 2014, Comet ISON conjuncts with a parade of planets: Mercury, Venus, Earth, Jupiter and Pluto in direct line with the Sun.... and that means a possible ignition when the comet is relatively close to the Earth... Hmmmmm.... Its nice to know not all astronomers are willing to hide information from those of us with an interest in celestial encounters that could cause major problems for the citizens of Earth. Thanks to UnknownEntity at ATS for the link.

  • Comet ISON Dust Production
In actual images of the comet becomes increasingly fainter
    Max Planck, 30th November 2013
Google Translation: The comet ISON had on Thursday evening at the time of his greatest sun approach still spat an active core, the gas and dust. About two hours after the Perihelpassage however found no evidence of production. Come This assessment scientists at the Max Planck Institute for Solar System Research in Katlenburg-Lindau, on this Saturday. They analyzed images of the instrument Lasco, which enjoys a unique view of the comet on board the Solar Observatory Soho. On current recordings, the brightness of the apparently inactive comet gradually decreases. A large comet show there will be no more almost certainly. [...]

Against 20.30 clock on Donnertagabend dipped the tail of ISON after his passage back to the sun in the visual field of the instrument Lasco. At this time, but it was unclear whether conceals even a comet nucleus at the tip of the tail or not. Recordings that were obtained several hours after perihelion, allow further conclusions.

"The dust tail of the comet is now divided into two parts," explains Hermann Böhnhardt from the Max Planck Institute for Solar System Research the images. The part of the tail, pointing towards the sun, is loud Böhnhardt from dust particles well before the Perihelpassage - were released - so before reaching the sun next path point. The other part, however, appears to contain more recent material: It was issued during the flyby and suggests that at this time, at least a part of the core still existed and was active.

    Comment:
This article tells us that German astronomers realise that Comet ISON sucked up heavy metal dust from the Sun's corona and this falsifies the current standard comet model.... How can a ball of rocky ice suck up anything? Obviously, the truth has been known for decades (McCanney's Plasma Discharge Comet Model is circa early 1980s), but decisions have been made that the implications of huge electric sparks in the heavens have to be hidden from the masses. But the facts are comets are regularly going 'ping' in the heavens and lighting up, so its getting harder and harder for NASA et al. to hide the truth. I am quite looking forward to what will happen next in the Comet ISON saga.

  • Did You Know The Bayeux Tapestry Depicts a Major Comet In The Heavens circa 1066?
    Max Planck, 8th November 2013
The sight of a bright comet has fascinated people at all times. But what lies behind such a celestial event? Only in modern times came researcher of the phenomenon on the ropes - because the comets a long career as a jinx or divine messengers had already behind him.

The first observations of comets date from the third millennium BC. In the ancient cultures they were considered because of their sudden emergence as a hint of the gods. And because they disturbed the harmony of the starry heavens, they were soon regarded as a jinx. [...]

In the Middle Ages, the fear experienced before this "breeding Rods of God" peaked announcing terrible natural events such as floods or earthquakes. Comets were in the 16th and early 17th Century a popular subject for broadsheets, the precursor of the newspapers. A poem from the 15th Century, describes the nature of comets impressive: "They bring fever, disease, pestilence, and Todt, heavy periods, lack and great famine."

    Comment:
A nice article that only gives a hint of the astrotheological importance of comets as 'divine' portents... Note the article can be found on a German astronomy website...

UK resident thinks meteorite may have hit house [Video]
BBC News, 1st December 2013
Lawrence Parkin from Jacksdale, Nottinghamshire said he was woken in the night by a tile falling from his roof. In the morning he found large chunks of rock scattered around his front garden. Experts at Nottingham University said he had possibly been hit by the remains of an iron rich meteorite. The pieces are now being sent to a London museum for further verification.

  • Meteor explodes over Greece, panicked locals report fragments falling into sea
    World Bulletin, 28th November 2013
A meteor hit Zakynthos, the third largest Greek island, in the Ionian Sea on Wednesday night. Eyewitnesses said the sky lit up like day after an explosion and objects which looked like fire balls fell into the sea, according to state-run ANA-MPA news agency. “Meteor strikes are common in Greece, it is not threatening,” geology Professor Efthimyos Lekkas told an AA correspondent. The meteor didn’t cause any damage but people panicked around the region.

  • News and testimonials about the meteor that exploded over Greek island of Kephalonia
    Greek Reporter, 28th November 2013
Many residents of Western Greece experienced a unique and incredible phenomenon at 9pm yesterday evening. Meteorologists spoke of a meteorite that was to fall in the Ionia sea.

The phenomenon was particularly noticed from the residents of Zante in the regions of Maheradou and Alikon. The residents said that they saw bright streaks across the sky from West to East, followed by an intense noise. However, there were no damages or problems reported even though the testimonies supported that the glow illuminated the homes of areas in Kefalonia.

Those who saw the bright object talked about a huge burning ball that was moving with tremendous speed. Many of them supported that they also heard a strange hollow noise. According to sources, it was a meteorite that fell in the Ionian Sea between Zante and Kefallonia.

ISON Survives, Changes Course?
Coast To Coast AM, 29th November 2013
11/29/13-- Despite early reports which declared Comet ISON dead, following its close encounter with the sun, astronomers have now observed evidence that the much-discussed comet survived the event, albeit missing a considerable amount of its original mass. More on the story at Discovery News.

Meanwhile, C2C science advisor, Richard C. Hoagland, provided us with images that suggest Comet ISON not only survived the solar rendezvous, but also changed course due to some mysterious force. Richard writes ... of its original mass. More on the story at Discovery News.

Here is our Enterprise Mission evidence that ISON not only "survived" its close approach to the Sun on Thursday afternoon ... it's also now "changed course!" These diagrams illustrate ISON's position early this AM, at 06:30 UTC -- overlaid on an official NASA plot of ISON's pre-perihelion projected orbit. They're obviously NOT the same ....

"Something" dramatic happened around perihelion ... to not only fundamentally change the geometric shape of ISON's "coma" [it's now definitely "triangular" ... ("tetrahedral?")], but its trajectory as well; ISON is now following a significantly different, slower solar orbit away from the Sun than NASA calculated previously -- as can easily be seen in these Enterprise Mission orbit plots of the official NASA data. So far, NASA has made NO "official comment."

November 30, 2013 ... it is now clear the NASA was busy photoshopping the SOHO pics that clearly would have shown comet ISON interacting with the sun as the sun began belching out some serious CMEs after the passage by the sun ... the SOHO data was delayed from release for over 12 hours before NASA put it on the SOHO web page ... notice that the high resolution photos of SOHO are no longer available as with the high res results of STEREO ... do you think the crap photos that they are posting on the NASA web pages are the best those cameras have ??? NOPE ... what we see are photoshopped very low resolution pics not worthy of a third grade science project ... jim mccanney

November 29, 2013 ... my fans and listeners are seeing first hand how absolutely absurd standard science and astronomy are ... the tier III outreach junior achievers like karl battams of the naval observatory or carey lisse of the Goddard space flight center or the text book repeater blogger phil plaite that represent the holy grail of NASA and their fairy tale science should be wondering why they are pushed out to defend the holy grail when the big honchos big name astronomers are hunkered down no where in sight ... the SOHO cameras were down for over 12 hours while they photo shopped the results for public consumption and the best explanation we got out of anyone was "we have no clue why comet ISON is doing what it is doing" ... HOW PATHETIC !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! BARFFFFF ... if you have been following my work and predictions you will see that not only do i explain everything you are seeing (and more) but i had this all in writing LONG before comet ison every went through its recent gyrations as a sun diving comet ... jim mccanney

November 29, 2013 ... the STEREO and SOHO outputs being released to the public are of such low quality that they are basically useless for real scientific value ... do you think this is what the tier I scientists see ??? a property of comets based on my Plasma Discharge Comet Model is that comets exhibit the heavy metals in their tails as they pull in atoms near the sun ... NASA has taken this data and is hiding it ... with over 60 instruments taking data of this comet ... NOTHING ... NOT A SINGLE SHRED of this data is available to the public ... just out of focus GIANT PIXEL pics from equipment that has extreme high resolution ... more criminal behavior from the scientists owned by the european bankers who own and operate this country ... jim mccanney

    Comment:
Remember, NASA hyped this as "The Comet of The Century", but then only release poor quality images... Obviously, astronomers know that their theories have been falsified (Comet Lovejoy did exactly the same thing two years previously) so the headlines are all for the sake of the hoardes of ignoranti.... Besides that, there is still something that NASA thinks is worth hiding... The size and triangular geometry of the coma when it left the sun and brightened up was seriously huge and downright odd.... Sigh.... I was surprised that the Sun did not overreact by belching out lots more CMEs... Despite some muttering from a few solar scientists (see archives), cometary 'action at a distance' is a taboo subject and solar science with respect to space weather prediction, is still in its infancy.

Comet ISON: The Phoenix is reborn!
Back from dead? Hope revives for 'comet of the century Ison' after encounter with Sun
The Independent News, 28th November 2013
Astronomers tracking the “comet of the century” believed it had flown too close to the Sun and had broken up, but hopes have now been reignited that part of it may have survived its close encounter. Comet Ison was due to pass within 730,000 miles of the Sun’s surface shortly after 6.30pm. It was initially declared dead after it did not re-emerge from behind the sun with the expected brightness.

“We don’t think it survived because we don’t see any new dust,” Nasa’s Solar Dynamics Laboratory said. It was hoped that Comet Ison would provide a spectacular sight in the sky in early December. If enough of it had survived, it promised to be one of the brightest seen this century. At around 1.2 miles (2km) across, it was thought it could be just big enough to avoid being melted away by the Sun or turned to dust.

Comment:
Well, since NASA hyped this comet as "The Comet of the Century", the reason for the hype now seems to need an answer. Basically, what did NASA know that caused them to hide all the close-up images and keep them secret? According to Richard Hoagland the numbers don't lie and we must conclude the hype is due to this comets esoteric/hyperdimensional attributes and associated symbolism. So, despite the initial reports from astronomers about a demise at perihelion, it looks like The Phoenix has been reborn. If you followed the observations, Comet ISON literally 'died' and came back to life. Of course, most astronomers are flabbergasted, but their icy snowball model held by Tier 2, 3, & 4 astronomers (Tier 1 know better), is a load of rubbish, so what can we expect? Since, Comet ISON has received huge amounts of media attention, I will just post various info, images and video with proof that Comet ISON (The Phoenix) has survived and I will add any relevant speculation I find about what we can expect in the near future. For those desperate for bad news, you have missed the point of what this is all about. The fabric of our reality has changed, the repercussions are what are important for humanity to get to grips with. Go back and listen to what Richard Hoagland has been saying about the hyperdimensional nature of our reality (download the Red Ice interviews over the last few years). I even wonder if he has read my book, because it looks like he agrees with the assessment I made in September 2006 when I self-published my book Tuning the Diamonds. Our solar system and planet are making a global energy leap. How comets behave gives up a big clue about how extreme things have become. On Earth we have to worry about the stability of Earth, but our predessors left big warning messages and huge pyramids all over the planet to help us out when things start to seriously rock and roll. I am just glad there are a few of us that can integrate enough information and not to be led astray by the seriously clueless folk.
  • Schrödinger's Comet
The Planetary Society, 28th November 2013
[...] After impressing us yesterday, comet ISON faded dramatically overnight, and left us with a comet with no apparent nucleus in the SOHO/LASCO C2 images. As the comet plunged through the solar atmosphere, and failed to put on a show in the SDO images, we understandably concluded that ISON had succumbed to its passage and died a fiery death. Except it didn't. Well, maybe...

After perihelion, a very faint smudge of dust appeared in the the LASCO C2 images along ISON's orbit. This surprised us a little, but we have seen puffs of dust from Sungrazer tails, so it didn't surprise us enormously and didn't change our diagnosis. We watched and waited for that dust trail to fade away. Except it didn't.

Now, in the latest LASCO C3 images, we are seeing something beginning to gradually brighten up again. One could almost be forgiven for thinking that there's a comet in the images!

    Comment:
A little bit of honesty from a very frustrated astronomer. Seriously, the reference to an 'icy' phoenix is a joke because the ancient mythology of the phoenix is associated with fire! Come on, Comet ISON entered the corona (outer atmosphere) of the sun and survived temperatures of several million degrees+ Kelvin that some claim lasted 3 hours! Whatever, solid proof that Comet ISON survived is provided here. I wonder what we are going to see in our skies because it is coming our way...

  • The Phoenix Mythology and Comet ISON
    jmccanneyscience.com, 24th November 2013
Since the reference to the ancient mythology of the Phoenix was posted BEFORE Comet ISON's rebirth, it gives more credibility for McCanney's Plasma Discharge Comet Model and the current honouring of esoteric knowledge by those in the know.
    Hi Jim,

ISON has developed what everybody through time has observed as seeing wings form/unfold out of a comet.

The ancients have transmitted this even through stories. One of the better known one, as you well know, is of the mythological Phoenix that is born out of fire (or from the Sun as this event was only visible when the comet in question was near the Sun) and comes reeks havoc an destroys all life on whatever planet it passes near too, and thus allowed for life to begin again or regenerate.

Take a look at this very recent photo of ISON and compare it to typical illustrations of the legendary Phoenix with its body aflame and a long fiery tail, which the last you think would represent the comet's very long tail. Now tell me that those pics don't strongly resemble each other! When ISON gets at its closest to us in January I hope we get to witness this even with our naked eyes.

In my opinion, ISON will still remain a harmless comet and will not directly affect Earth. But it's strange to know that when ISON is at its closet to Earth that Mercury, the Sun, Earth, Venus and Jupiter will be in an alignment. This event alone will probably cause serious weather anomalies around the planet (ie: massive out of season hurricane/typhoons and tornadoes, and possibly one or two large scale earth quakes) But I don't see the world splitting in half or anything this crazy like some others are saying.

Earth will be smack in the middle of this alignment and if ISON is in the mood to discharge itself onto Earth at this point then who knows how the weather will behave like.

the diagram at the left is from my copyrighted 1970's paper predicting the shapes of comets based on my Plasma Discharge Comet Model and which i discussed the physics on my november 21 radio show ... compare to the winged ISON (especially drawing (b) to left) ... the comet shape is based on many factors see my book Planet X Comets and Earth Changes appendices for these and some of the equations used to determined these shapes ... compare to ISON and the PHOENIX drawings or to more ancient phoenix drawings (from up out of the ashes rises the phoenix) ... note that it is a natural effect of the equations for the comet to get smaller and more compact as it approaches the sun ... read my books for details and i will be discussing this on my upcoming radio show ... jim mccanney

November 24, 2013 ... Comet Ison Particles to Provide Cosmic Time Capsule as Moment of Truth Approaches
International Business Times, 27th November 2013
[...] Sarkey said she will look to analyse the comet's isotopes - the basic forms of the different elements - to understand more about its origins. She said recent research into comets has shown they are more complicated than first believed.

"Some of them contain little pieces of dust that form in the inner solar system which shouldn't be the case on our previous models of how everything formed - so they're telling us a lot more and revealing a lot about how our solar system formed. Comets might have delivered organic material to Earth about three billion years ago. We think they could have brought water, because we don't know where all the water on Earth came from and we don't know where life started."

Speaking about what she hopes to find out from Ison, Starkey said: "We think Ison is entering the solar system for the first time and that is probably the case but if we measure little pieces of it we can build up a better picture of it.

Comment:
If comets act like vacuum cleaners like McCanney claims with is plasma discharge comet model, then finding little pieces of dust in the comet tail, that come from the inner solar system is exactly what should happen. Since, Tier 2, 3 and 4 scientists are still banging their head up against the wall with the standard comet model, everything they say about comets cannot be automatically believed.

Florida kid injured after meteorite hits him on the head
CBS 12 News, 26th November 2013
LOXAHATCHEE, Fla. -- The odds are astronomical, but 7-year-old Steven Lippard and his dad are convinced the boy was struck by pebbles from a meteorite Saturday while playing outside.

Steven has a gash -- stitched up with three staples -- on his head to prove it. Initial testing at Florida Atlantic University indicates the little stones -- pea sized and smaller -- are metallic, a good sign they came from space. Other testing supports the meteorite theory.

When it happened Saturday, Steven was bleeding from a wound that apparently came out of nowhere. His dad Wayne thought it might be from a golf ball or maybe a bird swooping down. Moments later they found the little rocks. A chemical test can confirm they came from space.

Comet ISON vs. the Solar Storm
NASA Science News, 24th November 2013
Nov. 24, 2013: In 2007, astronomers were amazed when a solar storm hit Comet Encke. NASA STEREO spacecraft watched as a CME (coronal mass ejection) struck the comet head on and ripped off its tail. A CME strikes Comet Encke in April 2007. Movie, Full storyThe same thing could be in store for Comet ISON--only worse.

On Nov. 28th, Comet ISON will pass through the sun's atmosphere, flying little more than a million kilometers above the sun's surface. It will be ~30 times closer to the sun than Encke was in 2007 and more likely to encounter a ferocious solar storm. [...]
NASA's entire fleet of solar observatories will be watching when ISON takes the plunge. This includes STEREO-A and STEREO-B, the Solar Dynamics Observatory, and the Solar and Heliophysics Observatory (SOHO), which NASA operates along with the European Space Agency. If a CME strikes the comet, all of the spacecraft are likely to see what happens.

  • Unconvincing: NASA explains how a snowy rock can glow green and be seen hundreds of millions of miles away on Earth with the naked eye...
    Spaceweather.com, 22nd November 2013
WHY IS COMET ISON GREEN? Taken by hundreds of people around the world, the pictures of Comet ISON we receive every day vary widely in quality, context and camera settings. However, they all seem to have one thing in common: the comet looks green. Why? To answer this question, Italian amateur atronomers Paolo Corelli and Dario Comino used a high-dispersion spectrometer to analyze light from the comet's atmosphere. Here are there results:

The spectrum of Comet ISON is dominated by a green spectral line from diatomic carbon (C2). This substance is common in the atmospheres of comets, and it glows green when illuminated by sunlight in the near-vacuum of space. The spectrum also shows a weaker but still significant blue emission line from C2. Comet ISON's mixture of green and blue light gives it the aqua hue seen in many long-exposure photographs. Finally, the spectrum reveals a contribution from atomic oxygen. This element is familiar to readers of spaceweather.com as a source of green light in auroras.

At closest approach, the temperature of ISON's core could rise as high as 5000o Fahrenheit--an existential challenge for an icy comet. No one knows if it will survive.

Comet ISON Grows Wings; Comet Lovejoy, a Fountain
Universe Today, 18th November 2013
[...] When examining a comet, I start at low magnification and note coma shape, compactness and color as well as tail form and length and details like the presence of streamers or knots. Then I crank up the power and carefully study the area around the nucleus. Surprises may await your careful gaze. If Comet ISON does break up, the first sign of it happening might be an elongation or stretching of the false nucleus. If it’s no longer a small, star-like disk or if you notice a fainter, second nucleus tailward of the main, the comet’s days may be numbered.

Comment:
Comet ISON is now serious! NASA et al., what has happened to your snowy rock? LOL This latest developmemt is sending some into full blown panic mode. I am stunned, there have been a lot of crop circles with swallow-like images over the years. See, “The South Field Swallow” 2009, UK, Walkers Hill in Alton Barnes, “The Swallows” 2003, UK, & “The Alton Barnes Winged Disk & Trilobite” 2004, UK (this stage of the comet development is also highlighted by crop circle makers). We can't say we were not warned, see info below.

Update 4. Comet Ison’s tail on November 16, 2013 was suddenly full of streamers: now it is flying like a “jellyfish” towards the Sun, as foreseen by two crop pictures from the summer of 2009

“Naked-eye sightings of comet ISON are coming in from around the world. Experienced observers put the comet's magnitude at +5.5 on November 16. This means that it is now ten times brighter than it was three days ago. To the naked eye, ISON appears as a faint smudge of pale green light, low in the pre-dawn sky. The view through a telescope is more dramatic: the comet's tail has become a riotous crowd of gaseous streamers, which stretch for more than 3.5 degrees across the sky” (see http://spaceweather.com of November 17, 2013):

    Comment:
There is a HUGE amount of 'analysis' here. Briefly, the conclusion is that crop circle makers are warning us [assuming that they are refering to Comet ISON], that as the comet goes through sun it will generate huge CMEs towards Earth, exactly as we have seen happen before, but maybe on a bigger scale. Based on all the disaster drills and ongoing disaster preparation by world authorities, it looks like they want to be ready just in case we get some serious devastating space weather.

    Comet ISON
Red Ice News, 18th November 2013
Richard C. Hoagland is a former NASA Consultant and former Science Advisor to Walter Cronkite and CBS News during the epic Apollo Missions to the Moon. He is author of two bestselling books on his 40 years of intensive research into the possibility of a former, ancient solar-system-wide high-tech civilization. He returns to discuss the fascinating symbols, rituals and mysteries surrounding Comet ISON. ISON has been billed as a potential "comet of the century," with some experts saying it could blaze as brightly as the full moon around the time of its close solar approach in late November. Richard says Comet Elenin was a forerunner of the big thing, Comet ISON. He'll address the intentional creation of "fear porn" about coming celestial bodies, which is ultimately coming from a secret religion grounded in the knowledge of how to change reality. In the member's hour, Hoagland continues on numbers and sacred mythology attached to important celestial bodies. Richard lays out how ISON is a pivotal part of the 2014 Olympics in Sochi Russia to fulfill a bigger ritual. He'll talk about how Comet ISON is a wonderful happening that can change the world for the positive. Later, we'll hear about other key dates and cultural connections connected to ISON's path.

    Comment:
This is a useful reminder by Richard Hoagland that not everything is as it seems... Hoagland's analysis seems to clear up the reason for the concerns by real astronomers about just how strange this object looks and how strangely it is behaving... Unfortunately, he only talks about the standard comet model but Hoagland must realise that Tier 1 scientists know better.... Sigh... I have to agree that our perceptions of reality are heavily managed. This means that if we are totally unfamiliar with the workings of the dark cabal - who make a huge effort to steer and manage the pignorant massses (I decided to keep my typo here) - it is very hard to recognise all the different signposts that give us real insights... Sigh... Whatever, Hoagland basically states that the elite are well aware that our reality is changing and are conducting their rituals in acknowledgement, but most people are totally unaware and informing people about what's what, is like trying to extract teeth without anesthetic... the high level of education required means the resistance is enormous. Part II [1:34] is for subscribers only, but necessary to listen to if you are unfamiliar with Hoagland's effort (with the help of a large following) over many years, decoding NASA's esoteric rituals. For me, this has been another relevant reminder of what truthseekers are up against. This is Wizard of Oz territory.... Comet ISON has neen designed to amaze, but the affect on the sun and a possible devastating blow from a CME is my concern.

ISON, Encke, Mercury, and Home
Plametary.org, 22nd November 2013
On Wednesday, amateur astronomers online were very quick to point out that comet ISON had entered the field of view of the NASA STEREO-A Heliospheric Imager 1 ("HI-1A") camera. It wasn't much to look at, as we only had available our low-resolution "beacon" data, but nonetheless you could clearly see a bright streak on the left-hand side of the HI-1A images. It was nice and reassuring to see the comet arrive in the camera but we had been expecting it for a long time, and indeed had been watching it in the wider field "HI-2" camera on that spacecraft since October 11, 2013.

When our STEREO imagers first caught sight of it, the comet was barely registering magnitude 12 on the brightness scale, and many astronomers were understandably feeling edgy as it labored slowly in its rate of brightening. But just over a week ago, comet ISON suddenly and spectacularly began to live up to our lofty aspirations, experiencing a dramatic outburst that saw it brighten from a 7th magnitude "green fuzzball" into one of the most visually stunning comets we've seen in years, now shining brightly at 3rd or 4th magnitude!

The stage was set, and timing couldn't have been better for ISON to make its appearance into the higher-resolution HI-1 camera on STEREO-A -- and that's what I'm excited to share with you now. But of course, no great scene in space is complete without a cast of supporting characters, and ISON has chosen a great set of companions for this scene. [...]

What we're looking at here is a cropped section of a 20-degree field of view, taken from a spacecraft that is far from Earth. We can see not only comet ISON entering the field of view but also Comet 2P/Encke, Mercury and that little place we like to call home!

The dark "clouds" of stuff you see coming from the right are density enhancements in the solar wind, and these are what are causing all the ripples you see in comet Encke's tail. I can pretty much promise you that we're going to see ISON's tail doing that in a couple of day's time, but on a much larger scale! (ISON is closer to STEREO-A than Encke is -- this has little to do with relative sizes of the comets).

Comet ISON Goes Wild
Spaceweather.com, 16th November 2013
COMET ISON OUTBURST CONTINUES: The abrupt brightening of Comet ISON on Nov. 14th has pushed the comet into the range of naked eye visibility. Dark-sky observers around the world report seeing it with their unaided eyes on the morning of Nov. 15th. To the human eye, ISON is just a faint smudge of magnitude +5.5. Backyard telescopes are revealing much more. The effects of the outburst have propagated into the comet's suddenly riotous tail, as shown in this image taken on the morning of Nov. 15th by Damian Peach:

"It's hard to believe this is the same comet I photographed on Nov. 10th," says Peach. "Now that ISON has experienced an outburst, the show has really begun."

Comment:
OMG! This is now getting surreal... Comet ISON's tail has turned into a selection of streamers and reminds me of the ancient depiction of 'hairy' raging comets. These 'streamers' are Birkeland currents and they could really start to get wild looking... We are now on the same page as the type of frightening comets the ancients warned us about... It looks like James McCanney's time has come... because NASA scientists will just pretend there is nothing to worry about.... ENLARGE THE IMAGE TO GET A GOOD LOOK AT THE COMET TAIL! Comet ISON Outburst
Spaceweather.com, 15th November 2013
COMET ISON OUTBURST: A sudden outburst of brightness from Comet ISON has catapulted it to the threshold of naked-eye visibility. "I've been imaging Comet ISON every morning," reports amateur astronomer Charles Coburn. of Rescue, CA. "On Nov. 14th, to my surprise, I could see it on my DSLR live preview screen." These two images show the comet on consecutive days as photographed by Coburn using the same camera and telescope settings:

Reports like Coburn's are coming in from around the world. Apparently, during the early hours of Nov. 14th Comet ISON surged in brightness by a factor of approximately 6. In terms of astronomical magnitudes, it jumped from +8 to +6. If the trend continues, it could be a faint but easy naked-eye object by the end of the week.

The sudden uptick in brightness could be caused by a fresh vein of ice opening up in the comet's nucleus. Rapid vaporization of ice by solar heat is a sure-fire way to boost a comet's visibility. [Fairy tale science] But, as NASA's Comet ISON Observing Campaign states, "we have no idea." The comet's nucleus is hidden from view by a hazy green atmosphere, so events in the interior remain a mystery. [Bullshit. Of course they know, but they just don't want to admit that Comets are an electric phenomenon. What snowy rock do you know that can travel through 'empty' space, emit x-rays (that can only be consistent with temperatures in the range of millions of degrees Kelvin) and turn different colours in a matter of hours that can be seen from hundreds of millions of miles away? These emperors have no clothes on...]

"I have a strong suspicion that this is Comet LINEAR (C/1999 S4) all over again," says Mark Kidger of the ESA's European Space Astronomy Centre in Madrid. In the year 2000, Kidger other astronomers monitored Comet LINEAR as it disintegrated en route to the sun. "The sudden appearance of ISON's gas tail (discussed further below), the increasing fuzziness of its coma, and now this sudden outburst all remind me of C/1999 S4 just before it broke apart."

To reiterate: No one knows what is happening to Comet ISON. This could be the comet's death throes--or just the first of many brightening events the comet experiences as it plunges toward the sun for a close encounter on Thanksgiving Day (Nov. 28th).

COMET ISON SPROUTS A DOUBLE TAIL: Amateur astronomers are getting a better look at Comet ISON as it dives toward the sun for a Nov. 28th close encounter with solar fire. As the heat rises, the comet brightens, revealing new details every day. This photo, taken Nov. 10th by Michael Jäger of Jauerling Austria, shows a beautiful double tail:

One tail is the ion tail. It is a thin streamer of ionized gas pushed away from the comet by solar wind. The filamentary ion tail points almost directly away from the sun.

The other tail is the dust tail. Like Hansel and Gretel leaving bread crumbs to mark their way through the forest, ISON is leaving a trail of comet dust as it moves through the solar system. [More fairy tales for grown-ups...] Compared to the lightweight molecules in the ion tail, grains of comet dust are heavier and harder for solar wind to push around. The dust tends to stay where it is dropped. The dust tail, therefore, traces the comet's orbit and does not point directly away from the sun as the ion tail does

Comment:
Dr Tony Phillips at spaceweather.com has forgotten to mention that Comet ISON has turned blue! According to James McCanney this means it has become a lot more electrically stressed... And as McCanney reminds his followers, the Hopi Indians have preserved ancient knowledge that the blue comets or kachinas are the dangerous ones...

Meteorite fall creates panic in Garo Hills [Bangladesh]
Assam Tribune, 15th November 2013
TURA, Nov 14 – A meteorite falling in the areas bordering Bangladesh created panic among the residents of the Garo Hills region. The meteorite, which fell inside Bangladesh, lit up the night sky around 10.30 pm last night. It was eagerly watched by the residents living along these areas.

The meteorite fell close to the Dumnikura BoP in the Sherpur district of Bangladesh, just beside the international border and the impact was heard even 40 km away from the area where it fell. Dumnikura is a border outpost in the South Garo Hills, very close to where five police personnel were killed last week.

A resident of the neighbouring Dalu village in West Garo Hills, Dipu Marak, was witness to the incident. He said, “We heard a loud noise around 10.30 pm last night and immediately rushed outside. We were in a state of shock. The meteorite lit up the night sky and narrowly missed us.”

Comment:
The planet is starting to get a serious sprinkling of space rocks, hence the very real concerns about asteroid detection. I think the definitive marker is spaceweather.com who are now reporting how many fireballs NASA are detecting over the United States. Since there was a huge fuss when the U.S. military hid fireball data from astronomers, (where astronomers actually threatened to leave the United States to continue their research so this was a serious rift), I had no idea what to make of the announcements by NASA that they were starting a new all-sky network detection system. At the moment, I am giving NASA the benefit of the doubt, because their efforts can be combined with that of avid sky watchers using the internet to highlight major events. Overall, it means gone are the days when astronomers pretend meteorites and fireballs are rare events (read the archives). The Chelyabinsk meteor in mid February 2013 was the ultimate kick up the backside that woke many up from their apathy, lethargy and disinterest. The following is an example of the new fireball reporting at spaceweather.com:
Every night, a network of NASA all-sky cameras scans the skies above the United States for meteoritic fireballs. Automated software maintained by NASA's Meteoroid Environment Office calculates their orbits, velocity, penetration depth in Earth's atmosphere and many other characteristics. Daily results are presented here on Spaceweather.com.

On Nov. 12, 2013, the network reported 4 fireballs. (4 sporadics)

Russian Meteor Blast 'A Warning For Earth'
Scientists reveal new details about the space rock that exploded over the city of Chelyabinsk, temporarily outshining the sun.
Sky News 6th November 2013
Russian Meteor Blast 'A Warning For Earth'Scientists reveal new details about the space rock that exploded over the city of Chelyabinsk, temporarily outshining the sun. The meteor strike that injured hundreds of people in Russia earlier this year could have been much more dangerous according to new research, and scientists say it "shows that the Earth is vulnerable".

The violent explosion on February 18 saw the 20-metre space rock split into fragments miles above the city of Chelyabinsk and was the biggest blast of its kind in more than 100 years. It briefly outshone the sun and inflicted severe burns on observers below, as well as smashing windows and rattling buildings. But researchers say a more solid rock would have caused greater damage and casualties.

This is an excellent news report with info direct from scientists in Russia.

Comet ISON Heats Up, Grows New Tail
Universe Today, 8th November 2013
I’m starting to get the chills about Comet ISON. I can’t help it. With practically every telescope turned the comet’s way fewer than three short weeks before perihelion, every week brings new images and developments. The latest pictures show a brand new tail feature emerging from the comet’s bulbous coma. For months, amateur and professional astronomers alike have watched ISON’s slowly growing dust tail that now stretches nearly half a degree or a full moon’s diameter. In the past two days, photos taken by amateur astronomers reveal what appears to be a nascent ion or gas tail. Damian Peach’s Nov. 6 image clearly shows two spindly streamers.

Comment:
I thought that the opening sentence was a bit much from Astro Bob and I am wondering why is is worried... Possibly, the fear about Comet ISON breaking-up AFTER perihelion means that McCanney's warning that the ancient description called The Red Hand of Death with a dump of Comet ISON's tail dust into Earth's atmosphere is a go... See below:
Comet ISON Meteor Shower
NASA Science News, 19th April 2013
April 19, 2013: Anticipation is building as Comet ISON plunges into the inner solar system for a close encounter with the sun in November 2013. Blasted at point-blank range by solar radiation, the sungrazer will likely become one of the finest comets in many years.

When NASA's Swift spacecraft observed the comet in January 2013, it was still near the orbit of Jupiter, but already very active. More than 112,000 pounds of dust were spewing from the comet's nucleus every minute. It turns out, some of that dust might end up on Earth.

Veteran meteor researcher Paul Wiegert of the University of Western Ontario has been using a computer to model the trajectory of dust ejected by Comet ISON, and his findings suggest that an unusual meteor shower could be in the offing. "For several days around January 12, 2014, Earth will pass through a stream of fine-grained debris from Comet ISON," says Wiegert. "The resulting shower could have some interesting properties. [...] While the dust is “up there,” it could produce noctilucent clouds (NLCs).
I suppose, the issue now is whether some astronomers think this atmospheric phenomenon could be quite dramatic... Just to remind people what McCanney's life's mission is all about, he closed his 7th November radio show, JamesMcCanneyScienceHour_November_07_2013(mp3) with a reading from Kolbrin Bible and section, The Scroll of Adepha, which is available online as below:

CHAPTER 5
The Destroyer - PART 3
FROM THE SCROLL OF ADEPHA

The Doomshape, called The Destroyer, in Egypt, was seen in all the lands whereabouts. In colour it was bright and fiery, in appearance changing and unstable. It twisted about itself like a coil, like water bubbling into a pool from an underground supply, and all men agree it was a most fearsome sight. It was not a great comet or a loosened star, being more like a fiery body of flame.

Its movements on high were slow, below it swirled in the manner of smoke and it remained close to the sun whose face it hid. There was a bloody redness about it, which changed as it passed along its course. It caused death and destruction in its rising and setting. It swept the Earth with grey cinder rain and caused many plagues, hunger and other evils. It bit the skin of men and beast until they became mottled with sores.

The Earth was troubled and shook, the hills and mountains moved and rocked. The dark smoke-filled Heavens bowed over Earth and a great howl came to the ears of men, borne to them upon the wings of the wind. It was the cry of the Dark Lord, the Master of Dread. Thick clouds of fiery smoke passed before him and there was an awful hail of hot stones and coals of fire. The Doomshape thundered sharply in the Heavens and shot out bright lightings.

The channels of water were turned back unto themselves when the land tilted, and great trees were tossed about and snapped like twigs. Then a voice like ten thousand trumpets was heard over the wilderness, and before its burning breath the flames parted. The whole of the land moved and mountains melted. The sky itself roared like ten thousand lions in agony, and bright arrows of blood sped back and forth across its face. Earth swelled up like bread upon the hearth.

This was the aspect of the Doomshape called The Destroyer, when it appeared in days long gone by, in olden times. It is thus described in the old records, few of which remain. It is said that when it appears in the Heavens above, Earth splits open from the heat, like a nut roasted before the fire. Then flames shoot up through the surface and leap about like fiery fiends upon black blood.

The moisture inside the land is all dried up, the pastures and cultivated places are consumed in flames and they and all trees become white ashes. The Doomshape is like a circling ball of flame which scatters small fiery offspring in its train. It covers about a fifth part of the sky and sends writhing snakelike fingers down to Earth. Before it the sky appears frightened, and it breaks up and scatters away. Midday is no brighter than night. It spawns a host of terrible things.

These are things said of The Destroyer in the old records, read them with a solemn heart, knowing that the Doomshape has its appointed time and will return. It would be foolish to let them go unheeded. Now men say, “Such things are not destined for our days”. May the Great God above grant that this be so. But come, the day surely will, and in accordance with his nature man will be unprepared.

I also recommend Chapter 3 as it discribes the low levels of consciousness that we can expect when the Destroyer turns up and it sounds like our modern day society run mostly by those with psychopathic tendencies. It states "certain laws operate upon the stars in the Heavens...." and it is these laws that the flaky cultic milieu don't seem to comprehend at all and so instead, normalise narcissim and greed to define spirituality.

Large Meteor Reported Over Southern California Skies On Wednesday Evening
Weatherspace, 7th November 2013
A large meteor was reported to Southern California Weather Authority.com on Wednesday evening by a few people. After the Facebook post, a number came in to continue talking about it. This bright mysterious flash likely was a meteor. Reports are still coming in.

Meteors hit the atmosphere at between 35 and 80km/sec, depending on the angle of the Earth. This meteor’s direction was said to be from northeast to southwest, likely causing it to be a slower variety due to the angle of attack on the Earth’s atmosphere.

Comment:
The higher-ups are so worried about meteors that Fox News recently reported there was an , emergency disaster drill in Washington but most folk are still oblivious that the subject of space weather has got deadly serious. Oh well, let the skyfall...
  • Russian fireball shows meteor risk may be bigger than once thought
    Fox News, 6th November 2013
[...] Lindley Johnson, manager of NASA's Near Earth Object program, said the space agency is reassessing what size space rocks to look for and how often they are likely to hit.

The U.S. government gained a new sense of urgency after Chelyabinsk, quietly holding a disaster drill earlier this year in Washington that was meant to simulate what would happen if a slightly bigger space rock threatened the East Coast.

After the drill, NASA and Federal Emergency Management Agency officials said they should look at the need for evacuations, figure out ways of keeping the public informed without scaring them, and handle meteor threats in a way comparable to how they deal with hurricanes bearing down on the coast.

During the drill, when it looked as if the meteor would hit just outside the nation's capital, experts predicted 78,000 people could die. But when the mock meteor ended up in the ocean, the fake damage featured a 49-foot tsunami and shortages of supplies along the East Coast, according to an after-action report obtained by The Associated Press.

The exercise and the studies show there's a risk from smaller space rocks that strike before they are detected -- not just from the giant, long-seen-in-advance ones like in the movie "Armageddon," said Bill Ailor, a space debris expert at the Aerospace Corporation who helped coordinate the drill.

"The biggest hazard from asteroids right now is the city-busting airbursts, not the civilization-busting impacts from 1-kilometer-diameter objects that has so far been the target of most astronomical surveys," Purdue University astronomer Jay Melosh, who wasn't part of the studies, wrote in an email.

    Comment:
The fear is a whole city destroyed by a little meteor that nobody can detect until it is too late. Can you imagine what would happen when all the asleep folk are jolted awake by such a mega disaster? A mega shitstorm, that's what will happen. World controllers have obviously been in a panic since Chelyabinsk in February 2013. Yes, I first wrote my Planetary Challenges report in March 2009 because it was clear to me The Obama Administration in The White House had been trying to work out if U.S. metaphysical leaders had any clue about what was happening on this planet. Well, it was obvious to me that Deepak Chopra et al. did not have a bloody clue or even why metaphysicians should be asked in the first place. I wanted to make it clear that I had worked this out. Some of us with an interest in metaphysics refuse to be dumbed down.

Comet ISON looking 'downright weird' as it approaches the sun
Yahoo News, 1st November 2013
The newest 'comet of the century' has been making a name for itself since it was discovered last year, with claims that it's Nibiru, a doomsday comet, or even an alien spacecraft. However, this comet has been behaving very strangely recently, and a recent analysis of comet images have shown a structure unlike anything scientists have seen from previous comets.

"There is a bright, miniature, long-tailed comet situated within a much larger, but very much fainter and diffuse halo of a coma," said veteran comet-hunter John Bortle, according to Space.com.

Dr. Jian-Yang Li, of the Planetary Science Institute, put together the computer simulation of the comet that took the Hubble Space Telescope images and removed the signal for the diffuse coma that surrounds the central core. What's left is an image of the comet's nucleus and the concentrated tail of debris behind it.

"At this stage of the game, with the comet about to cross the orbit of Earth, I cannot recall any previous comet in my 50-plus years of comet observing looking quite like this," Bortle said. In fact, comet ISON is crossing Earth's orbit as of today, as it plummets towards a November 28th pass around the sun. After that, it will swing around the sun's north pole and head back out towards the outer solar system, passing almost directly over Earth around the end of the year.

Comment:
I think this is worth noting, especially if more astronomers are brave enough to point out that Comet ISON appears to be something quite unusual.

UN aims to fight asteroids, creates a global warning network
L.A. Times, 28th October 2013
Even the United Nations is taking the threat of asteroids hitting our planet seriously.

Last week, the U.N. General Assembly approved measures to coordinate detection and response to asteroid strikes that could level cities and possibly destroy our civilization.

Specifically, the agency voted to create an International Asteroid Warning Network made up of scientists, observatories and space agencies around the planet to share information about newly discovered asteroids and how likely they are to impact Earth. The group will also work with disaster relief organizations to help them determine the best response to an asteroid impact like the one that rattled the Russian city of Chelyabinsk in February.

Comment:
I hope the irony of a GLOBAL WARNING network is not lost on those who realised quite some time ago that space climate change is something serious that cannot be ignored.

Asteroid fear: Gaia satellite sent into space to monitor blind zone between sun and Earth
A STATE of the art satellite is being sent into space to monitor the blind zone between the Earth and the sun to warn of incoming asteroids.
Express, 20th October 2013
Astronomers have previously not been able to spot asteroids in the 'blind zone' due to radiation from the sun blocking information.

But now The European Space Agency intends to launch the Gaia Space Telescope with its key task being to monitor the area between the Earth and the sun and warn of any impending collisions.

One recent asteroid which could have been spotted as it travelled through the 'blind zone' months before it collided with the Earth, was that of the Russian asteroid of February this year which caused a spectacular fireball before smashing into Chelyabinsk, 900 miles east of Russia.

Comment:
World controllers are obviously worried.

2013 Comet ISON: 'Comet of the Century' to Shine Brightly by End of October, Amateur Astronomers Share Captured Images of Comet ISON [PHOTOS]
International Business Times, 17th October 2013
Scientists and amateur astronomers expect the fast approaching 2013 Comet ISON to shine brightly and become visible through telescopes by the end of October which refutes initial reports regarding the fizzling out of the "Comet of the Century". The amateur astronomers were able to spot and capture images of the approaching comet with the use of professional telescope lenses.

The amateur astronomy club called Jyotirvidya Parisanstha (JVP) began a photographic tracking of Comet ISON with other astronomy clubs setting up workshops, awareness campaigns and even star parties to observe the much anticipated space phenomenon in 2013.

Comment:
I cut off the bright blue star Regulus for the image icon and the red ring is to identify Comet ISON . Well, looking around at other amateur images, Mars now has a bright ring around it and this image is not even the brightest I have found... Seriously, when did that happen? At this moment, I am not sure it is right to say this was caused by Comet ISON (unlike McCanney) because the whole solar system is charging up and our moon has been extremely bright for quite some time, to the point that even NASA has been forced to admit the moon's atmosphere is electrified... But Mars too? Actually, I am quite stunned... So, will NASA admit some time in the future that the atmosphere of Mars is highly electrified too? I even wonder if astronomers are going to act dumb and say nothing... I don't have time to go looking, but before and after images by the same telescope at similar times of the year and similar viewing conditions are needed as some kind of final proof...

Russians discover kilometer-wide near-earth asteroid
RIA Novosti, 11th October 2013
MOSCOW, October 11 (RIA Novosti) – A near-Earth asteroid about a fifth the size of the space rock thought to have killed the dinosaurs has been discovered by a Russian-operated observatory in New Mexico

The kilometer-wide asteroid, dubbed 2013 TB80, was first spotted on Wednesday by the remotely run ISON-NM observatory and was later confirmed by US and Japanese astronomers, the International Astronomical Union said in an online statement. [...]

Near-Earth celestial bodies are defined as those that come as close to the Sun as the Earth does, which means they have a chance of colliding with our planet.

NASA estimates that mankind is currently aware of 93 percent of near-Earth asteroids that are above one kilometer in diameter. None of them is expected to collide with the Earth in the foreseeable future.

The space rock discovered Wednesday is between six and 18 times larger than the one believed to have crashed in 1908 near Russia's Tunguska River, a meteorite whose impact is considered the most powerful in recorded history.

Comment:
At least the Russians can provide the Near Earth Objects [NEO] count rather than frighten people with irrelevant info.

First definitive proof of a comet striking Earth
IT Online News, 8th October 2013
The first-ever evidence of a comet entering Earth’s atmosphere and exploding, creating a shock wave of fire which obliterated every life form in its path, has been discovered by a team of South African scientists and international collaborators, and will be presented at a public lecture on Thursday.

The discovery has not only provided the first definitive proof of a comet striking Earth, millions of years ago, but it could also help us to unlock, in the future, the secrets of the formation of our solar system. [...]

The comet entered Earth’s atmosphere above Egypt about 28-million years ago. As it entered the atmosphere, it exploded, heating up the sand beneath it to a temperature of about 2 000 degrees Celsius, and resulting in the formation of a huge amount of yellow silica glass which lies scattered over a 6 000 square kilometre area in the Sahara. [...]

At the centre of the attention of this team was a mysterious black pebble found years earlier by an Egyptian geologist in the area of the silica glass. After conducting highly sophisticated chemical analyses on this pebble, the authors came to the inescapable conclusion that it represented the very first known hand specimen of a comet nucleus, rather than simply an unusual type of meteorite.

Comment:
I changed the title to something meaningful.

A dangerous game of "cosmic roulette"?
CBS News, 6th October 2013
For a long time, astronomers saw the asteroids and comets that come close to Earth as useless debris -- space rocks that blocked our view of distant galaxies. Not anymore. They're now viewed as scientifically important and potentially very dangerous if they were to collide with our planet. The odds of that happening on any given day are remote, but over millions of years scientists believe there have been lots of impacts, and few doubt there are more to come. A former astronaut told us it's like a game of "cosmic roulette," and one mankind cannot afford to lose.

Concern over our ability to detect these objects that come near the Earth grew after an incident in Russia this February, when an asteroid crashed into the atmosphere with many times the energy of the bomb dropped on Hiroshima, narrowly missing a city of one million.

This is video of that asteroid in Russia, barreling toward Earth at 40,000 miles an hour. It exploded into pieces 19 miles above and 25 miles south of the city of Chelyabinsk. People thought it had missed them entirely, until minutes later, when the shock wave arrived.

Shattering glass, crushing doors, and knocking some people right off their feet. More than a thousand were injured.

Comment:
What an admission! NASA astronomers found out about the Chelyabinsk meteor on Twitter and YouTube! Awful, awful, awful... The confession about how many asteroids exist and how many NASA are worried about as NEOs just seems confused here... There are papers that are completely classified about this threat so I suppose this astronomer is deliberately being vague... I talked about this in my last Veritas interview (segment 2). The astronomer should have mentioned NASA Tries, Fails to Withhold Planetary Defense Report

Fireball: NASA will admit seen in 14 states, independent sources says 30
Spaceweather.com, 30th September 2013
OHIO FIREBALL: On Sept. 27th, a meteor exploded in the skies above the US midwest. Witnesses report shadows cast upon the ground, unusual sounds, and a swirling contrail marking the aftermath of the blast. "It was the most brilliant fireball that I have ever seen!" reports Angela McClain, who sends this picture from Faith Ranch in Jewett, Ohio:

"The entire landscape lit up," she continues. "I spun around and there it was, a huge, bright green light, streaking across the sky. Even when it was gone, there was still a bright line in the sky about 20 seconds later. We were all stunned." A NASA all-sky camera in Hiram, Ohio, also recorded the fireball: movie.

"This was a very bright event," says Bill Cooke of NASA's Meteoroid Environment Office. "Flares saturated our meteor cameras, and made determination of the end point (the terminus of the fireball's flight through the atmosphere) virtually impossible. Judging from the brightness, we are dealing with a meter class object."

Data from multiple cameras shows that the meteoroid hit Earth's atmosphere traveling 51 km/s (114,000 mph) and passed almost directly over Columbus, Ohio. Cooke has prepared a preliminary map of the ground track. According to the American Meteor Society, the fireball was visible from at least 14 US states.

Comment:
Sorry, I can't keep track of various different reports, go to SOTT.net for more fireball info. Anyway, I don't think this is a surprise as big asteroids seem to have entourages of lots of smaller rocks and the Russians have told us that Earth had another near miss about this time see below:

Huge Fireball Explosion Creates Power Outage in Yucatan, Mexico [VIDEO]
Strange Sounds, 30th September 2013
Sunday evening, a weird sky phenomenon broke up the monotony of a small Maya Town as a huge object, thought to be a fireball, lit up the skies over the town of Ichmul in southern Yucatan at around 8:30 PM local time. The falling object was accompanied by a strong thundering noise and a loud blast when it crashed onto the ground. The crash was followed by flashing blue hazes and a power outage. Than flames were observable until approximately 2 AM at the object’s landing site. The sky phenomenon was also observed in Saban, Quintana Roo, San Francisco, and Peto Chikindzonot township.
Space junk? Just look at the bits that were picked up... Where were the military to stop people picking up these bits that are probably radioactive?

Russian Scientists Report Asteroid Near-Miss
RIA Novosti, 30th September 2013
MOSCOW, September 30 (RIA Novosti) – A 15-meter (approximately 50 feet) asteroid, similar to the one that exploded above Russia in February, was detected hours before it narrowly missed the Earth over the weekend, Russian scientists said.

Vladimir Lipunov of the Moscow State University and the Sternberg Astronomical Institute said on Sunday a network of telescopes operated by his team recorded a celestial body approaching the planet.

"[The asteroid] was discovered on Friday night by our station near Lake Baikal and nine hours later it flew within 11,300 kilometers of the Earth surface, below the orbit of geostationary satellites. It was about 15 meters in size,” he said.

Comment:
This is too significant to ignore. An invisible asteroid appearing with no notice on a direct trajectory with Earth could wipe out millions if it hits a city... The issue here is that when it was seen, it flew past Earth 9 hours later. Simply, that is not enough notice to provide warnings and evacuate a city if necessary...

Half-ton fragment of Russian meteorite located on lakebed
RT News, 11th September 2013
A date stone-shaped fragment of the famous Chelyabinsk meteorite weighting several hundred kilograms was located on the bed of a lake in the Urals. Divers are planning to start recovery of the celestial object later this week.

The fragment of the meteorite, which exploded high over Russia’s Chelyabinsk region in February, injuring more than 1,600 people and causing plenty of damage and much excitement on the ground, was discovered with sonar survey of Lake Chebarkul. []

The fragment is the largest by a great margin found from the blast event, which was the most powerful of its kind since the Tunguska Event in 1908. Previously only several dozen fragments weighting up to a few kilograms were discovered and studied.

Another Meteor Blast Over The United States
Spaceweather.com, 30th August 2013
MAJOR FIREBALL EVENT, UPGRADED: NASA's Meteoroid Environment Office has upgraded its estimates of a major fireball that exploded over the southeastern USA on August 28th. Lead researcher Bill Cooke says " the fireball reached a peak magnitude of -13, brighter than a Full Moon, and cast shadows on the ground. This indicates that the meteoroid had a mass of over 50 kg (110 lbs) and was about 40 cm (16 inches) in diameter. It hit the top of Earth's atmosphere traveling 23.7 km/s (53,000 mph)." Watch the movie, then read more about the fireball below:

"As far as I know, this is the brightest event our network has observed in 5 years of operation," he continues. "There are reports of sonic booms reaching the ground, and data from 4 doppler radars indicate that some meteorites may have fallen along the fireball's ground track." (Note: The city in the ground track map is Cleveland, Tennessee, not Cleveland, Ohio.)

Using data from multiple cameras, Cooke has calculated a preliminary orbit for the meteoroid. The shape and dimensions of the orbit are similar those of a Jupiter-family comet. If meteorites are recovered from the Tennessee countryside, their chemical composition will tell researchers more about the origin of the fireball.

Russian Meteor Explosion's Dust Cloud Lingered In Atmosphere for Months
Space.com, 16th August 2013
When a meteor exploded over the Russian city of Chelyabinsk in February, pieces of the bus-sized space rock hit the ground while its detonation shattered windows, set off car alarms and injured more than 1,000 people.

Masked in the chaos, however, was an enormous plume of dust that the Russian meteor left behind in Earth's atmosphere. This cloud, which had hundreds of tons of material in it, was still lingering three months after the Feb. 15 explosion, a new study has found. Scientists created a video of the Russian meteor explosion's dust cloud to illustrate the phenomenon. [...]

"Indeed, we saw the formation of a new dust belt in Earth's stratosphere, and achieved the first space-based observation of the long-term evolution of a bolide plume," Gorkavyi said in a statement.

Initial measurements 3.5 hours after the meteor explosion showed the dust 25 miles (40 km) high in the atmosphere, speeding east at 190 mph (306 km/h).

Comment:
I have been blogging about more cosmic dust hitting Earth for a long time now, but the 30 metric tonnes daily is a very conservative estimate. In 2003, The European Space Agency estimatd that due to changing cosmic conditions "40,000 tonnes of dust could fall on Earth every day", see Sun’s Flip is Letting the Dust In. We already now there is a problem with the amount of meteors and fireballs entering our atmosphere because the US military decided to hide information from astronomers, see archives for references. Btw, these figures are all rather insignficiant when NASA satellite data suggests there is 64 million tons of dust, pollution and other particles in the atmosphere over North America, see A Lot of Dust in the Air. Obviously something serious is going on to justify the ongoing surveillance of noctilucent clouds.

Asteroid Friday: Two Space Rocks Miss The Earth

Two asteroids passed close to the Earth on Friday. The bigger one - asteroid 2005 WK4, with an estimated size of 500 meters missed the Earth at about 8.1 Lunar Distances (LD). 2013 PS13 is much smaller, about 19 meters wide and it made a very close fly-by at about 0.5 LD.

Asteroid 2005 WK4 was discovered on Nov. 27, 2005 by Siding Spring Survey. On 6 Aug. 2013, the PlaneWave 17? robotic unit of the Virtual Telescope Project captured this asteroid, now brighter and faster than the previous nights. Below is a screenshot saved during the imaging session.

Meteorite Hits Village in NW China [Photos]
Crienglish.com News, 1st August 2013
A meteorite hit a village in northwest China's Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region on Thursday, CCTV.com reports.

The meteorite crashed at a dump site in a village of Xinjing's Akto County around 2:00 a.m. Thursday and punched a 3-meter wide, 2-meter deep hole in the ground.

Local authorities say no casualties have been reported and investigation and research work on the meteorite

Did a meteor hit Orange County? Residents report huge explosion
LA Times, 28th July 2013
Unlike trees, when a meteor falls in the wilderness, everyone can hear it. And some Orange County residents think that's exactly what they heard when a thunderous boom rattled windows, scared pets and startled homeowners from their sleep early Tuesday morning.

About 12:15 a.m., the Orange County Sheriff’s Department received three or four calls from residents in Lake Forest’s Foothill Ranch community about a loud explosion and a flash of light. Several South Orange County residents also tweeted about the incident, asking about the source of the blast.

Entire neighborhoods emptied into the streets in the middle of the night, residents said, with some pointing to what looked like a cloudy path overhead as the telltale sign of some galactic visitor.

Rumors of Comet ISON ‘Fizzling’ May be Greatly Exaggerated
Universe Today, 30th July 2013
A press release out yesterday about a recent paper on Comet ISON has caused a mild uproar across the astronomy-minded social media outlets and some websites. The article issued from the Physics & Astrophysics Computation Group (FACOM) at the University of Antioquia in Medellin, Colombia is titled “Comet Of The Century? Not Yet! Comet C/2012 S1 ISON Has Fizzled Completely And May Disintegrate At Or Before Reaching Perihelion.”

The article had professional astronomers and comet enthusiasts alike shaking their heads in disbelief.

Comet ISON Blazes with Distant Galaxies in Stunning Hubble Photo
Space.com, 26th July 2013
A spectacular new photo gives a deep-space view of Comet ISON, which could put on a dazzling show when it zooms through the inner solar system in late November. The image — which researchers stitched together from five photos of ISON taken by NASA's Hubble Space Telescope on April 30 — shows the icy wanderer blazing against a backdrop of galaxies and bright stars. [...]

Comet ISON is cruising toward a close encounter with the sun on Nov. 28, when it will skim just 724,000 miles (1.16 million kilometers) above the solar surface. The comet could get incredibly luminous around this time, perhaps shining as brightly as the full moon, researchers say.

ISON has thus attracted a fair bit of "comet of the century" hype, with skywatchers and scientists around the world eagerly tracking its long trek toward the sun. Indeed, Hubble is just one of many instruments that researchers around the world are training on the comet as part of a coordinated observation campaign.

Comment:
'The icy wanderer'... astronomers trying to make us laugh again... SOTT.net point out a NASA video with a passing comment about a sharp increase in comet numbers. Thus, before 1979, there were less than a dozen known sungrazing comets. As of December 2012, NASA had discovered or knew of over 2,500... But there has been a huge increase in asteroids (the definition between comets and asteroids is becoming blurred too, but see archives). As a reminder, astrophysicist Neil deGrasse Tyson says "he’s almost embarrassed for our species that it takes a warning shot across our bow before legislators take seriously the advice they’ve been receiving from astronomers about getting serious about asteroid detection and deflection;". I have not come across any information that tells us if this is going to get far more serious and so I don't know if this is a known unknown or an unknown unknown.

Big Asteroid Flies By Earth Tonight: How to Watch Live
Space.com, 22nd July 2013
A newfound asteroid about the size of a football field will cruise past Earth tonight (July 22), and you can follow all the action live online.

The near-Earth asteroid 2013 NE19, estimated to be between 194 feet and 426 feet wide (59 to 130 meters), will pass within 2.6 million miles (4.2 million kilometers) of Earth tonight — about 11 times the distance between our planet and the moon. There is no danger that it will strike Earth on this pass, scientists say. [...]

Asteroid 2013 NE19, which was discovered just last Monday (July 15), will be quite faint, making it a difficult target for backyard observers. But it should be readily visible in Slooh's remote-controlled telescope, the group said.

Comment:
Another huge rock flying by at 11LD so nothing to worry about. I also think a weeks notice is not so bad, as astronomers only catching sight of a huge rock AFTER it has gone past Earth still happens too.

Comet ISON update, brightening fast!

Family 'lucky to be alive' after freak meteorite shower
Telegraph, 26th June 2013
The rocks landed just inches away from where Sarah Marston-Jones' son Harry, aged two, and Benjamin, four, were playing. Ms Marston-Jones said they were lucky to be alive after at least 15 rock fragments peppered them as her children played on a trampoline.

They had been enjoying the sunshine when there was a "whooshing and cracking" sound and a strong smell of burning, according to Ms Marston-Jones. She said the brown and black coloured rocks, which also fell on the outside patio, ranged in size but some were more than an inch wide. "We're still in shock - they missed the boys by little more than inches and we found fragments underneath the trampoline," Marston-Jones said.

Comment:
This could have been a terrible incident, I am quite horrified. In reality, due to the changing cosmic environment, the amount of meteors entering our atmosphere, still seems to be on an upward trend. Thanks to S. Pleas for the tip.

Huge Earth-Passing Asteroid an 'Entirely New Beast'
Space.com, 15th June 2013
A big asteroid that flew past Earth last month belongs to a new category of space rock, scientists say.

Asteroid 1998 QE2 and its moon sailed within 3.6 million miles (5.8 million kilometers) of Earth on May 31, making their closest approach to our planet for at least the next two centuries. New radar images captured by the Arecibo Observatory in Puerto Rico are revealing just how unique this binary asteroid is, researchers say.

“Asteroid QE2 is dark, red, and primitive — that is, it hasn’t been heated or melted as much as other asteroids," Arecibo's Ellen Howell said in a statement. "QE2 is nothing like any asteroid we've visited with a spacecraft, or plan to, or that we have meteorites from. It's an entirely new beast in the menagerie of asteroids near Earth." [Potentially Dangerous Asteroids (Images)]

Comment:
Dark, red and primitive.... what does that actually mean? Asteroids are supposed to be icy, but I suppose many astrophysicists already know their beloved comet/asteroid theories are wrong. Presumably the temperature of this rock (and a host of other parameters) were not revealed for this reason.

Asteroid the size of a small truck buzzes Earth
Flyby is the latest in a series of celestial close encounters
CBC News, 9th June 2013
An asteroid the size of a small truck zoomed past Earth four times closer than the moon on Saturday, the latest in a parade of visiting celestial objects that has raised awareness of potentially hazardous impacts on the planet.

NASA said Asteroid 2013 LR6 was discovered about a day before its closest approach to Earth, which occurred at 12:42 a.m. ET about 105,000 km over the ocean south of Tasmania, Australia. The 10-metre-wide asteroid posed no threat.

Dark, massive asteroid to fly by Earth on May 31
LA Times, 17th May 2013
It's 1.7 miles long. Its surface is covered in a sticky black substance similar to the gunk at the bottom of a barbecue. If it impacted Earth it would probably result in global extinction. Good thing it is just making a flyby. Asteroid 1998 QE2 will make its closest pass to Earth on May 31 at 1:59 p.m. PDT.

Scientists are not sure where this unusually large space rock, which was discovered 15 years ago, originated from. But the mysterious sooty substance on its surface could indicate it may be the result of a comet that flew too close to the sun, said Amy Mainzer, who tracks near-Earth objects at Jet Propulsion Laboratory in La Cañada Flintridge. It might also have leaked out of the asteroid belt between the orbits of Mars and Jupiter, she said.

Comment:
Another huge rock fly-by of Earth. As far as I am concerned the admission in this report are quite astounding. There is no talk of this asteroid being an icy rock, instead we have the confession of hydrocarbon baked on sticky black tar more usually associated with unactivated comets.... Whatever, the black tar makes the rock virtually impossible to see opticall but now doubt the this rock is glowing in the infra-red... So, after all the false claims by NASA scientists, it seems that reality is winning the day.

Bright Explosion on the Moon
NASA Science News, 17th May 2013
May 17, 2013: For the past 8 years, NASA astronomers have been monitoring the Moon for signs of explosions caused by meteoroids hitting the lunar surface. "Lunar meteor showers" have turned out to be more common than anyone expected, with hundreds of detectable impacts occurring every year. They've just seen the biggest explosion in the history of the program.

"On March 17, 2013, an object about the size of a small boulder hit the lunar surface in Mare Imbrium," says Bill Cooke of NASA's Meteoroid Environment Office. "It exploded in a flash nearly 10 times as bright as anything we've ever seen before." Anyone looking at the Moon at the moment of impact could have seen the explosion--no telescope required. For about one second, the impact site was glowing like a 4th magnitude star. [...]

"On the night of March 17, NASA and University of Western Ontario all-sky cameras picked up an unusual number of deep-penetrating meteors right here on Earth," he says. "These fireballs were traveling along nearly identical orbits between Earth and the asteroid belt."

This means Earth and the Moon were pelted by meteoroids at about the same time. “My working hypothesis is that the two events are related, and that this constitutes a short duration cluster of material encountered by the Earth-Moon system," says Cooke. [...]

One of the goals of the lunar monitoring program is to identify new streams of space debris that pose a potential threat to the Earth-Moon system. The March 17th event seems to be a good candidate.

Comment:
Hmmm... So, the moon got plummelled by a train of meteors... The question is: where are these new streams of space debris coming from? What NASA are suggesting is that we have entered into a new period where we can expect major planetary bombardments as explained by Napier & Clube (1979) see, Evidence for cometary bombardment episodes (2006) or Orbital Resonance Theory. To my knowledge, both theories can provide the evidence but neither can explain the triggering mechanism. I think the triggering mechanism is planetary/solar system energy levels that cause satellites to shift if they are no longer in harmony. Rather like the concept of a cloud of electrons orbiting an atom and these 'electrons' being periodically disturbed by electromagnetic factors.... Anyway, the issue is Earth being at the receiving end of some serious meteor impacts generating some serious evolutionary change... Certain members of the scientific community are well aware of the issues, but most of humanity are totally unaware that we have entered a new cosmic dispensation.

Namibia: Meteorite Strikes Mahangu Field
All Africa, 10th May 2013
Onesi — Thousands of people have flocked to the Omusati Region out of curiosity to view a small piece of meteorite that landed in a mahangu field in the village of Oshika, in Onesi Constituency, yesterday morning.

A piece of meteorite, the of a size of a small ball or two human fists put together made such an impact that people within a radius of over 200km were able to hear the explosive impact, feel the resulting tremor and observe the blinding light that followed as it landed. [...]

Selma Shikongo, the wife of Ningilenimo, said the incident took place at around 4.30 yesterday morning when the family was still in bed. "First we saw a light through our bedroom window, which my husband brushed off, thinking that it was car passing by. We then heard a sizzling sound, then a loud bang. The children ran to me saying that something had fallen near the entrance of the house, and we should run away. While I was comforting the children, we saw another bluish light - and once more there was a sizzling sound, then everything went silent," Shikongo explained.

According to Shikongo, the family went out of the house later in the morning in search for what had fallen but they couldn't find it immediately. It was only after they returned from the homestead of their neighbours, that they noticed the object that looked like burned metal lying in their own mahangu field - just a few metres from their homestead. That is when they reported the incident to the police. People who flocked to the scene from as far as the Oshana and Ohangwena regions, also claimed to have seen the light, while some claim to have heard the loud bang and even felt tremors.

Comment:
OK, a meteor landed and there was a big bang for a change... Yes, they should guard it because a meteorite can be worth more than three times the price of gold.

Fist-sized fireball likely to be formed from debris from Halley's Comet
    The Independent, 9th May 2013
People from as far afield as Cornwall and Lancashire have reported seeing a green-tinged meteor hurtling across the night sky. The 'fireball' shot over England and Wales in a northerly direction at around 9.45pm last night, with sightings reported in Cornwall, Hampshire, Lancashire, South Wales and Worcestershire. Experts believe that the meteor was formed from debris from Halley's Comet and that it was probably only the size of a clenched fist. The green hue is likely from copper inside.

    Comment:

Another Meteorite Lands in a Connecticut "W" Town
The avocado-sized rock crashed through Jay Langlois' gutter.
NBC Connecticut, 9th May 2013
Jay Langlois of Waterbury discovered a meteorite that struck his house. The discovery comes 19 days after a meteorite struck a home less than a mile away in Wolcott.

A meteorite has hit another house in Connecticut just 19 days after one landed on a home in Wolcott. Jay Langlois didn't hear or see the rock fall from the sky, but did notice his broken gutter behind his house spewing water. He didn't know it at the time, but a meteorite had crashed down and landed on his lawn on Red Maple Lane in Waterbury. It was found still intact. It is about the same shape and size of an avocado, weighs 1.6 pounds and measures 2 inches by 2.5 inches by 4 inches. [...]

At first he thought his kids had thrown a firecracker at his gutter, but later his wife found the rock on the lawn. Langlois contacted the same Yale expert who confirmed the meteorite that crashed through a house in Wolcott on April 19. Dr. Stefan Nicolescu, the collections manager for the Mineralogy Division at the Yale Peabody Museum, confirmed a meteorite landed on Langlois' home.

According to Nicolescu, the Waterbury meteorite is likely related to the one in Wolcott. It was found miles away from where the Wolcott meteorite landed. He hopes to run additional tests of the two.

Comment:
At this moment in time, I am struggling with the concept of two houses in close proximity (within 1 mile) being hit by meteorites but separated by 19 days. The probability must be astronomical and I can't see how they were related at all unless something is circulating the planet and at certain 'weak' points rocks are allowed to fall but this idea is all rather iffy... Will we get an astronomer to explain this properly? I don't think so...

Large meteor spotted in night sky in England and Wales
The meteor was captured on CCTV by the BBC in Cardiff
BBC News, 9th May 2013
A meteor has been spotted travelling across the night sky by people in many parts of England and Wales. Sightings of the celestial body were reported on Twitter in areas such as Cornwall, Hampshire, Lancashire, south Wales and Worcestershire. Suzy Buttress, of Basingstoke, described witnessing the meteor as a "once in a lifetime thing". Space scientist Dr Maggie Aderin-Pocock said the phenomenon was likely to have been debris from Halley's Comet.

Comment:
The "once in a lifetime thing" is getting very stale as reports of blazes in the sky and massive explosions from meteors are becoming at least once in many many people's lifetimes. I have decided to not commit on this one because it could even have been space junk coming down, see archives for more comment.

Ball of fire lights up skies above Spain (VIDEO)
RT News, 15th April 2013
A brilliant ball of flame streaked across the sky above the Spanish capital Madrid, dazzling stargazers and astronomers alike. The celestial display was so bright it could be seen across the entire country.

The eye-popping moment was caught on camera by the Hita Observatory at the University of Huelva at around 11:45pm local time (2145 GMT). The object struck the atmosphere above the Villamuelas district in the province of Toledo, southwest of Madrid.

“The impact was so abrupt that the object immediately caught fire, creating a ball of flame around 100 kilometers above the Earth,” Jose Maria Madiedo of the University of Huelva told the Huffington Post.

Fireball explodes in the morning sky over Norway
SOTT.net, 4th April 2013
[Google translation]: Paper Deliverer witnessed the fireball that flew over southern Norway very early Wednesday morning. - Very interesting, says Knut Jorgen Roed Odegaard about the pictures she took.

Tove Haveland is still exhilarated by the experience very early on Wednesday morning. While most of Norheimsund was asleep, the paperboy was out driving today's deliveries. Then she saw something in the morning sky.

- It was a little before half past five and I saw the moon in the top right corner of the eye. Then it happened: It was as if something exploded in the sky.

- Then it was just like a ball of fire fell from the sky, it fell straight down and slid slowly down. The color was the same as the moon, but it is not lit up in the same manner, says Haveland.

What Caused Russian Asteroid To Disintegrate Before Impact?
Veterans Today, 25th March 2013
[...] In the age of photoshop and image manipulation we might dismiss this clip as a hoax except for one thing; the explosion sent meteor fragments in only one direction and away from the alleged craft as one would expect if the meteor had been zapped with an energy weapon. The alleged craft materialized from what appeared to be a “cloaked” state in order to blast the asteroid. Following the blast it appears the craft re-entered and remained in a cloaked state. But before disappearing, the craft emerged from behind the explosion and appeared to “wobble” slightly as if affected by the shock wave.

Comment:
Folk simply can't get over the video footage that clearly shows "something" blew up the Chelyabinsk meteor... I have not watched the Thunderbolts video yet so I can't comment on that. Update: Nice summary of Chelyabinsk meteor videos and scientific information that makes some query how a 10,000 tonne rock could distintegrate in the Earth's atmosphere by heat alone. The Electrical Universe theory viewpoint is given by David Talbott who states that the meteor's explosion was due to a charged body disintegrating under electrical stresses but the strange footage of "something" entering the meteor and subsequent explosion is cited as unexplained. Regardless, slowly, slowly others are catching up with the views of plasma physicists and electrical engineers, the New Scientist June 2012 article, Mysterious electrical bursts warn of material collapse states, "Inexplicable flashes of electricity burst out of powdery materials seconds before they form cracks and fail." & "It is well known that failing materials, and earthquakes, release electrical signals." Obviously, this should also apply to rocks falling into Earth's highly electrified atmosphere.

Mysterious Burning Object Falls From the Sky, Wounding Two
Who Forted?, 23rd March 2013
Two Indian women were sent to the hospital yesterday after a mysterious flaming object came careening out of the sky and into their yard. Experts say it’s not a meteor. [...]

Thinking that the object might be a meteor, researchers from the Regional Forensic Science Laboratory were quickly dispatched to Patola village near Chamunda temple where the object impacted, only to rule out the possibility after testing the fragments.

“Our team visited the area and found some explosive material from the spot. However, the nature of the explosive could be ascertained only after proper analysis. The samples are being sent to State Forensic Science Laboratory at Junga in Shimla,” said Dr. N. Prakash Dubey, adding that “it definitely wasn’t a meteorite or a natural object.”

NASA: Flash in East Coast sky likely a meteor
NECV.com News, 22nd March 2013
NEW YORK (AP) — East Coast residents were buzzing on social media sites and elsewhere Friday night after a brief but bright flash of light streaked across the early-evening sky —in what experts say was almost certainly a meteor coming down. Bill Cooke of NASA's Meteoroid Environmental Office said the flash appears to be "a single meteor event." He said it "looks to be a fireball that moved roughly toward the southeast, going on visual reports." "Judging from the brightness, we're dealing with something as bright as the full moon," Cooke said. "The thing is probably a yard across. We basically have (had) a boulder enter the atmosphere over the northeast." He noted that the meteor was widely seen, with more than 350 reports on the website of the American Meteor Society alone.

NASA's advice for near-term meteor strike: "Pray"
CBS News, 19th March 2013
At a House Committee hearing Tuesday, NASA administrator Charles Bolden Jr. was asked what America would do if a meteor similar to the one that hit in Russia on Feb. 15 was found to be on a path toward New York City, with impact three weeks away. His response? "Pray."

At the moment, we might be lucky to get even three weeks warning. The United States and the rest of the world simply do not have the ability to detect many "small" meteors like the one that exploded over Russia, which has been estimated at roughly 55 feet long. Donald Yeomans, Manager of NASA's Near-Earth Object Program Office and the author of "Near-Earth Objects: Finding Them Before They Find Us," told CBSNews.com that there are a lot of these small meteors in orbit, and little early warning system in place to detect them. [...]

"In Russia, if that asteroid had held intact for a few more seconds, it would have hit the ground with the force of 20 Hiroshima bombs," he said on CBS This Morning Tuesday, arguing the investment was worth it. Yeomans also called for ground-based wide field optical telescopes that could scan vast regions of the sky each night.

At Tuesday's hearing -- before the House Committee on Science, Space and Technology -- Gen. William Shelton, commander of the U.S. Air Force Space Command, acknowledged that the United States had no idea the Russian meteor was coming.

Comment:
Make sure you read the whole article.... WE are being told the truth, "small" asteroids are very very difficult to detect. Well, I actually believe the advice from NASA's administrator Charles Bolden Jr. to "Pray" is right after what happened with the Chelyabinsk meteor. As I have clearly stated and many others may also believe, SOMETHING that I believe was organised by the Earth Management Team, blew up the Chelyabinsk meteor and hundreds of thousands of people (maybe a million if it had hit a city) were saved from being killed. People can be as skeptical as they damn well like, but the humans on this planet now have a major problem with the new cosmic conditions in our solar system and some acknowledgement that we are not alone might help. However, I will repeat that I have no idea what criteria is being used to save the lives of humans and I don't think some should think they have any guarantees... Btw, the metaphysical community still don't seem to have much to say... Just pathetic...

‘Exploding’ meteorite seen in South African Sky
IOL SciTech News, 13th March 2013
Cape Town - Residents across Cape Town claimed to have sighted a meteorite on Tuesday after what appears to have been a fireball “exploded” in the sky.

It is said to have been sighted just after noon. Nicola Loaring, an outreach astronomer at the South African Astronomical Observatory, said they had received about four or five reports.

The green and blue light with a white tail that was reported to them appeared to be that of “a fireball, which is a bright meteor”.

  • Large crater in ice stumps astronomer
    CBC News, 12th March 2013
An amateur astronomer says a large hole in the ice on Dawe's Lake near Badger in central Newfoundland must have been caused by an object that fell from the sky. "We've looked all around," said Jim Gillard, who runs the Twillingate Astronomical Observatory. "There don't appear to be anything else that could've caused this, except something that fell out of the sky." The hole, which measures about 55 metres by 60 metres, was first discovered on Friday morning by a cabin owner in the area.

Four Asteroids Buzz Earth in Single Week
Space.com, 10th March 2013
In the last seven days, an asteroid 131 feet (40 meters) across and three smaller space rocks have zoomed safely by Earth, the latest demonstration that we live in a solar system that some scientists have dubbed a "cosmic shooting gallery."

All four asteroid flybys occurred between March 4 and today (March 10). The asteroids were also all discovered this month, some just days ago. [...]

The asteroid flybys came a few weeks after a 55-foot (17 m) meteor exploded over Russia on Feb. 15 with the force of about 500 kilotons, injuring more than 1,200 people in the city of Chelyabinsk and causing extensive damage to city buildings. Later on Feb. 15, the larger asteroid 2012 DA14 passed within 17,200 miles (27,680 km) or Earth —closer than many communications satellites.

The asteroid 2012 DA14 flyby, which was closely tracked by NASA and astronomers, prompted planetary scientists Bruce Betts of the Planetary Society to remind the public that Earth is in a "cosmic shooting gallery" where asteroids are concerned.

"This should be a wakeup call to governments," Cox said. "We know that the solar system is a busy place. We're not sitting here on our pale blue dot, on our own in nice safety."

Comment:
The asteroid traffic is up and has become a significant space weather issue but after the Chelyabinsk meteor blast, most astronomers are being very vocal that we have now got a major problem. Yet, is is now very clear that if the Russian people had not had some cosmic 'help' to obliterate this meteor before it landed, we would have experienced a major major disaster.... I am sure there are some Russians that are very grateful...
  • Andrew Cooper: Were the recent asteroid flyby and Chelyabinsk meteor strike events linked?
    Tallbloke's Talkshop, 5th March 2013
An interesting comment has been placed on the 2012DA14 flyby thread by talkshop regular ‘Scute’ (Andrew Cooper) which investigates the possibility that the Russian Meteor was indeed related to the asteroid. This was dismissed at the time but Scute’s investigation of the orbital dynamics seems to raise doubt about this:

I think the idea of the Russian meteor being related to 2012DA14 should be resurrected. I say resurrected because the idea was so roundly slapped down by NASA within hours of the impact and never discussed again. Most of the information below was gleaned from NASA’s own JPL Horizons ephemeris for 2012DA14.

Let me begin by addressing a few myths that seemed to sew it up regarding the lack of any link between the two

    Comment:
This looks like a thorough technical debunking of the panicked claims by NASA stronomers about the Chelyabinsk meteor not being related to the 2012DA14 asteroid flyby.

Asteroid to fly past Earth this weekend
CNN News, 8th March 2013
An asteroid the size of a city block will pass by Earth this weekend, but have no fear: There's no danger of it hitting our planet.

The 80-meter wide asteroid makes its closest approach to Earth on Saturday afternoon in the United States. It will be about 975,000 kilometers (604,500 miles) away, said Don Yeomans, a planetary scientist at NASA's Jet Propulsion Laboratory in California. That's about 2 1/2 times the distance from the Earth to the moon. "It's a pretty good size, but it's not getting that close, at least by recent standards," Yeomans said.

Comment:
Another late asteroid... This asteroid has been named 2013 E.T. which is funny... So, we have another late observation (the second in less than a week) but 2.5 LD is far enough away for us to not worry about a surrounding entourage of smaller rocks that could drop into our atmosphere.
  • Russian Asteroid Explosion and Past Impactors Paint a Potentially Grim Future for Earth
    Universe Today, 7th March 2013
The recent meteor explosion over Chelyabinsk brought to the forefront a topic that has worried astronomers for years, namely that an impactor from space could cause widespread human fatalities. Indeed, the thousand+ injured recently in Russia was a wake-up call. Should humanity be worried about impactors? “Hell yes!” replied astronomer Neil deGrasse Tyson to CNN’s F. Zakharia

Now, don't forget, NASA's Neil de Grasse Tyson was once named People magazine's "Sexiest Astrophysicist Alive" so you should pay attention to whatever he has to say... Seriously, this article was written by Canadian astronomer Dan Majaess and we are provided with details of the serious debate amongst astronomers concerning the threat of asteroids and comets. Of some real interest is what astronomers believe is the cause of comets and asteroids appearing in the inner solar system. The article implies that some astronomers believe that new comets appearing can be predicted at regular intervals and under certain conditions....

Newly Found Asteroid to Pass Within Moon’s Orbit on March 4, 2013
Universe Today, 4th March 2013
A newly found asteroid will pass just inside the orbit of the Moon, with its closest approach on March 4, 2013 at 07:35 UTC. Named 2013 EC, the asteroid is about the size of the space rock that exploded over Russia two and a half weeks ago, somewhere between 10-17 meters wide. The asteroid that sparked the Russian meteor is estimated to have been about 17 meters wide when it entered Earth’s atmosphere. 2013 EC was discovered by the Mt. Lemmon Observatory in Arizona on March 2. There is no chance this asteroid will hit Earth.

Bright green fireball expodes over Poland, resulting in shockwave and 'mighty roar'
SOTT.net, 4th March 2013
Last Saturday night (2/3 March), a bright object flying toward the earth was seen in various parts of the country. "It was seen from the city of Poznan to Grudziadz. It lit up the sky for a few seconds from east to west, and then an impact was heard", wrote a reader of Alert24.pl. "The passage of an NEO [Near Earth Object] is not uncommon", explains Jerzy Rafalski, an astronomer from Torun in an interview with Radio RMF FM.

Did UFO 'hit' Russian meteorite blasting it to smithereens? Conspiracy theorists’ extraordinary claim after new footage emerges
Daily Mail, 28th February 2013
The meteorite that crashed on Russia was hit by an unidentified flying object causing it to explode and shatter over the Urals, it has been claimed.

The bizarre theory is based on analysis of blurry footage of the space rock as it streaked across morning sky above the city of Chelyabinsk.

U.F.O enthusiasts insist a small 'object' can be seen colliding with the meteorite on its trajectory through the atmosphere, despite the fact there were no reports of Russia launching missiles to down the celestial intruder, they claim.

Comment:
Even the mainstream are asking questions... Well, we are being told from on high that soon humanity will informed that we are not alone.... I just hope there is a greater realisation that there is an Earth Management Team in operation as part of a shadow biosphere and spectrum of plasma entities that act as 'guardians' on this planet, but we are not privy to all their instructions. Some metaphysical sources have provided us with some useful and interesting information that seems to tally with scientific observations, so at least there are some answers to pertinent questions, but I am acutely aware we need to understand a lot more about our status in the universe.
  • So did a UFO shoot down the famous Chelyabinsk meteorite last month?
The Siberia Times, 28th February 2013
The meteorite that crashed to Earth in the Urals was attacked by a UFO causing it to explode and shatter, it was claimed on Thursday.

The theory comes from Russian watchers of unidentified flying objects and echoes a version that first appeared on the day the space rock fell on Chelyabinsk region. Early speculation suggested the meteorite had been shot at by a Russian missile, but no such claim has been made by the authorities.

Indeed, the Russian government is seeking to lead world efforts to secure the technology to blast such objects before they cause damage on the ground. Now attention has switched to whether - as a raging online debate suggests - 'we were saved by a UFO' exploding the menacing meteorite seconds before it struck the ground.

Russian Meteor Generates 100 Million Video View Record

The most breathtaking pictures yet of Russian meteorite: Photographer captured exploding space rock on camera... despite thinking it was nuclear bomb that would kill him
Daily Mail, 22nd February 2013

Don't panic, we're getting a lot better at spotting dangerous asteroids
Wired News, 19th February 2013
The only thing standing between us and a fiery extraterrestrial conflagration is air resistance, a terrifying state of affairs that was vividly illustrated by the meteor that exploded over Russia last week. That it occurred (entirely coincidentally) on the same day that a five kilometre-wide asteroid made an unusually close fly past the Earth, coming as close as 28,500km above the Indian Ocean, only helped to further highlight that we are still extremely exposed, as a species, to space. [...]

The biggest risk right now is not that some Armageddon-style asteroid comes and wipes out humanity just as the dinosaurs were wiped out before us, but rather that some mid- to small-sized asteroid appears out of nowhere and destroys a major city as effectively as a nuclear weapon.

And even worse, recent research has shown that smaller asteroids are more destructive than we imagined -- the physical size of the Tunguska meteor has been revised downwards from earlier estimates despite its huge power -- two-fifths that of the largest nuclear bomb ever built, the Tsar Bomba. Nasa still believes that there are an estimated 4,700 asteroids (of the aforementioned 19,000) in the Solar System that pose a threat to us.

Comment:
It looks like another outbreak of common sense is at hand... There is a lot of information here about the effort to find asteroids coming our way using various new satellite borne telescopes and pointing out again that the US military like morons are still currently hiding fireball data... but, of most interest is "crowdsourcing the hunt for asteroids"... Amateur astronomers taking some responsibility is an excellent option based on the number of successful discoveries by amateurs in recent years...

Meteorite 'could have devastated northern UK'
Slight difference in time at which meteorite entered atmosphere could have resulted in widespread damage, say astronomers
Guardian, 16th February 2013
The meteorite that caused devastation in the Urals on Friday could have struck Britain if it had entered the atmosphere at only a slightly different time of day, astronomers revealed yesterday.

The region around Chelyabinsk hit by the meteorite impact is 55 degrees north, the same latitude as northern England. Had the meteorite's timing been only few hours different, it could have caused widespread damage in the British Isles, astronomers at the University of Hawaii said yesterday.

Comment:
I did write that if the meteor had landed, thousands would now be dead, I was wrong... it would have been many 100,000s dead now, see below... Well, up until now space weather has only been given joke status by the generally ignorant and unresponsive public, but that should now change. The trial by cosmic fire starts in earnest now. I am now wondering what criteria the 'defenders' of Earth are using to decide whether to save the life of humans on this planet or not... I personally believe that if humanity were not so corrupt, we would not have the same level of issues that we do now.

  • Strange damage reports surface after Friday’s Russian meteor explosion
    Slash Gear, 18th February 2013
Today we have more reports of damage caused by the meteor explosion and they are as bizarre as some of the damage reports from tornadoes we’ve heard over the years. For instance, in the city of Chelyabinsk, Russia some high-rise buildings had the glass blown out of every window on the top floor while other buildings had only the glass from the bottom floor destroyed. Even that’s not the most bizarre report of damage caused by the meteor.

Some citizens living within the city are reporting that the external windows of their apartments remain intact while glass jars in dishes inside the home were destroyed by the meteor explosion. Some citizens also reported that their electronic devices were destroyed by the explosion. One citizen reported that a glass bottle he was holding shattered in his hand.

Scientists say that glass was destroyed by pressure waves created as the meteor fragment decelerated. These low-frequency waves are called infrasound. Scientists say that these waves can bounce off buildings causing them to be stronger in some places than others and can resonate with glass explaining why bottles and dishes might have shattered inside of homes otherwise unaffected by the meteor.

United Nations Reviewing Asteroid Impact Threat
    Space.com, 17th February 2013
The Russian fireball and the close flyby of the asteroid 2012 DA14 on Friday (Feb. 15) came at a moment in time when the United Nations is discussing international response to the near-Earth object impact concern.

Detailed discussions about the Russian meteor explosion and Earth's encounter with asteroid 2012 DA14 were high on the Feb. 15 agenda of Action Team-14 during the 50th session of the Scientific and Technical Subcommittee of the United Nations Committee on the Peaceful Uses of Outer Space (COPUOS), being held from Feb. 11 to 22 at the United Nations headquarters in Vienna. The multi-year work of Action Team-14 (AT-14) is focused on pushing forward on an international response to the impact threat of asteroids and other near-Earth objects (NEOs). [...]

    Future threatening asteroids

"This event in Russia and the pass of the larger asteroid 2012 DA14 are good reminders that many thousands of objects like it pass near Earth daily," said Ray Williamson, a senior advisor to the Secure World Foundation and a participant in the Vienna gathering.

Secure World Foundation is a private operating foundation dedicated to the secure and sustainable use of space for the benefit of Earth and all its peoples. Williamson said that some objects will be larger and cause considerable damage if they strike Earth. Furthermore, it is critical that efforts continue to identify and track asteroids in order to counter the largest ones before they do serious damage to population centers.

"Work is continuing within the United Nations on developing international responses to future threatening asteroids. Given the uncertainties concerning where such asteroids might strike Earth and how much damage they might do, international responses will be critical," Williamson told SPACE.com.

Is this another example of a UFO/UAP/orb breaking up an incoming meteor? The video shows an object catching up with the Chelyabinsk meteor that was travelling at about 64,000 kilometres per hour... it passed straight through it and then the meteor exploded... If it was a missile, it should have exploded on impact not pass through the meteor.... There have been other occasions where an orb has been seen spinning around an incoming meteor which is then seen to break up, video clips are available in my archives... Well, my research has informed me that this planet has an Earth Management Team that keeps this planet under some kind of cosmic guard and performs certain 'housekeeping' functions... If the orb had not broken this small asteroid up, there might have been a real tragedy, thousands dead... Even President Putin thanked God that the 'small' asteroid did not land... I don't know why it was not broken up in space like Comet P/Shoemaker-Levy 9, (Russian astronomers referred to this object as a "plasmoid train") that got broken up on our behalf in July 1994 and plunged into Jupiter... BUT, this is the reason why I get very irritated by the ignorance.... WE ARE NOT ALONE and the show is not being only run by a bunch of 'evil' aliens, entities and demons... • Hi.. was the meteorite that struck Russia associated with the Red Comet?
    psychicfocus.blogspot.com.au, 17th February 2013
    [...]
7:38 PM - I do see it being related to the Red Comet...It looks like on the back side of the comet a piece broke off, but it is more in the tail end part of it, but it is on the back side for sure. And as I look at Earth, the magnetic field around it looks like it is very spotty...a..like it zaps in and out like a..almost like a short circuit looks, and it sounds like white noise on the TV. And my impression is that this comet is causing this glitching in and out of certain spots in our magnetic field, which even allowed meteorite to breach into our Atmosphere. And even though this was random event, I think we might see more, but the ones I am seeing are about the size of softballs and basketballs, so I think the one that hit Russia might be the biggest one that we see. At least that is the biggest one I can see in my mind.

Q-There seems to be a lot more asteroids and meteors lately. Is there a reason: an active portion of the galaxy, or something causing this additional debris to head our way?

A-It looks like as this comet is traveling through space any random object in space are being attracted to it like a magnet, therefor is there is just a lot more debris connected to this comet. It almost looks like the speed of it gets a little faster with the collection of all the various objects, like it gives it more power and more force.[...]

Q-Do you still see this Red Comet being visible to the naked eye in the next couple months?

A-YES....now let me think for a minute...it will almost look like a Red Full Moon when we see it, and I feel like it is going to be around the full moon in March (when looking from Eastern US)

Russian meteor hit atmosphere with force of 30 Hiroshima bombs
Telegraph, 16th February 2013
The 55-foot rock, said by Nasa to have a mass of 10,000 tonnes, plunged to Earth in the Urals region on Friday morning, causing shockwaves that injured 1,200 people and damaged thousands of homes in an event unprecedented in modern times.

Nasa estimate that the energy released by the meteor's impact with the atmosphere was 500 kilotonnes, around 30 times the force of the nuclear bomb dropped on Hiroshima in 1945. It entered the atmosphere and broke up at an altitude of around 32 miles, causing a shockwave that blew out windows and set of car alarms in Chelyabinsk two and a half minutes later. [...]

Meteorite hits Russian Urals: Fireball explosion wreaks havoc, over 1200 injured (PHOTOS, VIDEO)
RT News, 15th February 2013

Russia’s Urals region has been rocked by a meteorite explosion in the stratosphere. The impact wave damaged several buildings, and blew out thousands of windows amid frigid winter weather. Hundreds are seeking medical attention for minor injuries.

Eyewitness accounts of the meteorite phenomenon, handpicked by RT. Army units found three meteorite debris impact sites, two of which are in an area near Chebarkul Lake, west of Chelyabinsk. The third site was found some 80 kilometers further to the northwest, near the town of Zlatoust. One of the fragments that struck near Chebarkul left a crater six meters in diameter. Servicemembers from the tank brigade that found the crater have confirmed that background radiation levels at the site are normal.

Russian space agency Roskosmos has confirmed the object that crashed in the Chelyabinsk region is a meteorite: “According to preliminary estimates, this space object is of non-technogenic origin and qualifies as a meteorite. It was moving at a low trajectory with a speed of about 30 km/s.” According to estimates by the Russian Academy of Sciences, the space object weighed about 10 tons before entering Earth’s atmosphere.

Meteor strike injures hundreds in central Russia
BBC News, 15th February 2013
The BBC's Daniel Sandford says people described a ball of fire in the sky A meteor crashing in central Russia's Ural mountains has injured at least 500 people, as the shockwave blew out windows and rocked buildings.

Most of those hurt suffered minor cuts and bruises but some received head injuries, Russian officials report. A fireball was seen streaking through the clear morning sky above the city of Yekaterinburg, followed by loud bangs.

The meteor is believed to have landed in a lake near Chebarkul, a town in the neighbouring Chelyabinsk region. Much of the impact was felt in the city of Chelyabinsk, some 200km (125 miles) south of Yekaterinburg. "It was quite extraordinary," Chelyabinsk resident Polina Zolotarevskaya told BBC News. "We saw a very bright light and then there was a kind of a track, white and yellow in the sky." [...]

Thousands of rescue workers have been dispatched to the area to provide help to the injured, the emergencies ministry said. The Chelyabinsk region, about 1,500km (930 miles) east of Moscow, is home to many factories, a nuclear power plant and the Mayak atomic waste storage and treatment centre. [...]

Asteroid coincidence

Scientists have played down suggestions that there is any link between the event in the Urals and 2012 DA14, an asteroid expected to race past the Earth on Friday at a distance of just 27,700km (17,200 miles) - the closest ever predicted for an object of that size. Prof Alan Fitzsimmons, of the Astrophysics Research Centre at Queen's University Belfast, said there was "almost definitely" no connection.

"One reason is that 2012 DA14 is approaching Earth from the south, and this object hit in the northern hemisphere," he told BBC News. "This is literally a cosmic coincidence, although a spectacular one."

Comment:
Oh well, I suspected that the big asteroid 2012 DA14 arriving on the 15th (today) would have an entourage of rocks ready to drop based on what has already been happening, BUT the experts are saying this is a coincidence? [...] Dirk Ross, who tracks bright meteors and meteorite finds worldwide, logged 564 eyewitness reports from England, Scotland, Ireland, France, Belgium, The Netherlands, and Norway. A few hours later, Ross received another burst of 126 sightings. But these weren't from Europe — instead, a fireball had appeared over southeastern Canada and the U.S. Northeast. What at first seemed the unlikely arrival of two dramatic bolides in a single night is now known to be something much more historic and scientifically profound. [...]

Lyytinen says the brief atmospheric passage took its toll. As the meteoroid broke apart, its velocity dropped to just 5.7 miles (9.2 km) per second, too slow to make an escape back to space. Instead, it became a temporary satellite of Earth, looping completely around the globe before reentering the atmosphere — this time for good.

    Comment:
Wow.... We have a logical explanation for the meteor sightings that caused some wonderment when seen over the UK and Northern America. The main issue is that this big meteor came very close and was apparently undetected....

Asteroid 'Cruise Ship' to Miss Earth Feb. 15
Discovery News, 5th February 2013
Next week, a 45 meter-wide space rock will zoom safely by. But as far as cosmic distances go, it will be a close shave.

Asteroid 2012 DA14 will make close approach on Feb. 15, flying closer than geosynchronous orbit (27,700 kilometers or 17,200 miles or 1/13th the Earth-moon distance). So unless you’re a communications satellite, you have nothing to fear. But even if you were a communications satellite, it’s unlikely you’d get swatted by the asteroid juggernaut as space is really, really big.

“NASA’s Near-Earth Object Program Office can accurately predict the asteroid’s path with the observations obtained, and it is therefore known that there is no chance that the asteroid might be on a collision course with Earth,” asteroid hunters at NASA’s Jet Propulsion Laboratory in Pasadena, Calif., announced on Feb. 1. 2012 DA14 was discovered in February 2012 by the La Sagra Sky Survey in Spain, so its orbital trajectory is very well known.

Green 'fireball' flashes across the night sky in Lincolnshire [UK]
This Is Lincolnshire, 1st February 2013
Astronomer Paul Money, who lives in Horncastle, caught a glimpse of the spectacle out the corner of his eye as it disappeared to the north. "It is difficult to say whether this was a chunk of man-made space debris or a piece of asteroid," he said.

"Images and eyewitness reports will be collated by the British Astronomical Association and some months down the line they may get an idea of what it actually was."

Astronomer Philip Norton, of Thirsk Drive, North Hykeham, said: "From the description on the web it sounds like a lump of rock about the size of a football hit the atmosphere. This is not uncommon. It just never seems to happen over the UK when the sky is clear.

Comment:
The fireball reports are now nearly daily but in the archives not so long ago, fireballs were so supposed to be rare sightings... Again, was this space junk coming down? This is important because it is a major sign of worsening space weather and bad conditions in near Earth space for the world's satellite communication systems. Mysterious, purple spheres found in the desert
KGUN 9 TV News, 30th January 2013

TUCSON (KGUN-9) - It was a normal Sunday in Vail for Geradine Vargas. Normal, until she and her husband stumbled upon something kind of weird. "We were taking photos around the area and we just...I mean, how could you miss this?" Geradine said. "It was just like glittering in the sun."

Thousands of tiny, purple-hued spheres piled in the middle of no where. "It's just one of those things that you've never seen before." They were watery, some where translucent, and the pile was completely isolated. Gerardine was amazed, and she wanted answers.

Comment:
Theres are lots of suggestions but maybe someone will get the stuff tested in a lab, but it is of interest as there have been reports of other cosmic 'gunk' falling in recent years.

Experts: Mysterious fireball in sky likely falling satellite [US]
WSLS10 News, 28th January 2013
ROANOKE, Va. -- An object that looked like a giant fireball made a brief appearance in the sky at around 9:30pm Sunday -- and while no one can say with 100 percent certainty what it was, experts tell us they have a pretty good idea.

Aerospace Corporation -- a federally funded research and development center based in California that works with the Air Force and NASA -- says the timing and witness descriptions are consistent with a satellite that fell back into Earth's atmosphere.

That satellite, called Cosmos 1484, was launched by the Soviet Union back in 1983. Sightings were reported from Canada all the way down to Georgia. Aerospace says that's a much greater distance than you typically see with these events, which is why they're continuing to investigate.

2012 the Year of Meteorite Falls!
Lunar Meteoritehunters.blog, 3rd January 2013
The year 2012 saw a new record set for most meteorite falls in a single year in the 21st century. I started keeping detailed records of every new meteorite fall that is recovered or reported by reliable sources. Some of these have not been officially approved by the Meteoritical Society yet, but that is not unusual.

In 2012, eleven (11) new meteorite falls fit the above criteria to be included on my list. Prior to 2012, the most falls in a single 21st century year (since 2000), was ten falls in 2008.

On average, since the year 2000, we have averaged about 5 recovered meteorite falls per year that are either officially accepted by the Meteoritical Society or verified by reliable sources (such as the 2008 Zunhua meteorite fall, which has not been officially approved yet, but is a meteorite nonetheless).

Comment:
Earth is now in the middle of an interstellar debris field and we have been told by scientists that 9,000 rocks are passing Earth at any one moment. This explains the dramatic increase in meteors entering our atmosphere causing huge booms and explosions. There is also the new urgency to deploy new telescopes to detect bigger rocks that are virtually invisible to anything but infrared telescopes and radar.... For those who missed the news, collecting meteorites (rocks that have landed) is now illegal in the United States and that is probably because meteorites are now worth three times more than gold...

Asteroids flybys, big and small, near and far...
spaceweather.com, 10th December 2012
BIG ASTEROID FLYBY: Large near-Earth asteroid 4179 Toutatis is flying past Earth this week. At closest approach on Dec. 12th, it will be 7 million km away, or 18 times farther than the Moon. Astronomers are taking advantage of the flyby to learn more about the asteroid's orbit, shape, and topography. Here are a few shadowy images of the asteroid illuminated by NASA's Goldstone radar in the Mojave desert:

Measuring 5 km in length, Toutatis is one of the largest known potentially hazardous asteroids (PHAs) and its orbit is inclined less than half-a-degree from Earth's. No other kilometer-sized PHA moves around the Sun in an orbit so nearly coplanar with our own. This makes it an important target for asteroid studies.

Fortunately, there is no danger of a collision with Toutatis for hundreds of years. Radar observations should improve researchers' ability to predict the asteroid's trajectory even farther into the future. Goldstone will pinging Toutatis from now until Dec. 22nd. Stay tuned for daily updates.

Comment:
This massive asteroid is of great astronomical interest as it needs to be monitored and catalogued for future flybys... but the real interest is the last minute asteroids that seem to appear from nowhere... 2012 XE54 was only discovered on December 9th. It is a small 36 meter Apollo class near earth object and makes its closest approach at 0.6 LD between Earth and Moon... That is still not so close....

Nine radar images of asteroid 2007 PA8
Phys.Org News, 28th November 2012
(Phys.org)—A collage shows nine radar images of near-Earth asteroid 2007 PA8 that were obtained between Oct. 31 and Nov. 13, 2012, with data collected by NASA's 230-foot-wide (70-meter) Deep Space Network antenna at Goldstone, Calif. On Nov. 5 at 8:42 a.m. PST (11:42 a.m. EST/16:42 UTC), the object came about 4 million miles (6.5 million kilometers) from Earth, or 17 times the distance between Earth and the moon.

The images of 2007 PA8 reveal possible craters, boulders, an irregular, asymmetric shape, and very slow rotation. The asteroid measures approximately one mile wide (about 1.6 kilometers).

Comment:
So.... asteroid 2007 PA8 is 1 mile wide but it could only be detected by radar? The naming convention for new asteroids tells it was only recently discovered in 2007 but we have been told it has been around before and the 2012 flyby was the closest since 1880.... See Spaceweather.com's listing: Recent & Upcoming Earth-asteroid encounters - 4th November 2012 The question I have is: if we can use infra-red telescopes to look deep into the galactic centre trillions of miles away, why do we need to use radar too to detect asteroids? Whatever, I have stated many times that the new energy flooding our solar system is a dark matter or aetheric tide and I now believe that things are so bad that according to the European Space Agency, even orbital debris around our planet is difficult to observe. In my archives there is a good example of a US Spy Satellite satellite appearing and disapppearing and at the time I gave my opinion... For those interested in the metaphysical implications, the asteroids in our solar system are being carried on a tide of primordial energy from deep space, this energy is creative and transformative and that is why we can expect a spiritual transformation on this planet. The affects have already been noticeable for a few decades already, but with the latest news from the ESA confirming my views, it looks like I understood enough to get the implications right that space weather was changing the properties of spacetime in and around our planet. Yes, I will gloat, I have been right, right and right again, see links below and previous comments in the archives. Update: My mind has been whirling.... OH MY! Now we know why there is stupid talk of CO2 making satellites move faster and the ESA's requirement to map out the spacetime around our planet... it seems locating satellites dead and alive is now at a new level of difficulty and then with the wildcard element of bad geomagnetic storms knocking satellites and junk out of orbit, it seems the relocation of satellites may be somewhat difficult at times without radar... My goodness, it seems that my prognosis that the whole of our satellite infrastructure was at risk was totally understated... Then, I have blogged about a plane disappearing off radar for a while... Well, we know that radar does not always work and simply from the many difference reports, Earth's upper atmosphere is being breached by energies from space that can make things disappear.... This is just incredible...
  • A Spy Satellite Disappears behind a plasma double layer?
    spaceweather.com, 18th February 2012
SPY-SAT DISAPPEARING TRICK: US spy satellite Lacrosse 5 occasionally confounds observers by disapppearing: In a matter of seconds, it can fade more than three astronomical magnitudes. Is this a deliberate form of stealth? Most experts think not, but no one outside of classified circles knows for sure what is going on. To investigate, French astrophotographer Thierry Legault used his satellite-tracking telescope to photograph Lacrosse 5 as it sailed 490 miles above Paris on Jan. 15, 2012, and he caught the spysat in the act of disappearing: [...]

During the passage, the brightness of the satellite decreased by 10 times in only 4 seconds (a loss of 2.5 magnitudes)," describes Legault. "After 33 seconds of [dark flight] it regained its original brightness. Lacrosse 5 often shows this very singular behaviour, which is called by other observers (especially Marco Langbroek) the 'disappearing trick.'"

Fireball pictured in the sky over Chelmsford is a burning mystery

"THESE photographs apparently show a large fireball in the skies above Chelmsford. The pictures are just two of a series taken by Eleanor Collop, 13, and her 17-year-old sister Leanne, after they spotted the 'meteor' from outside their home on the Beechenlea Estate." [...]

Meteor spotted falling from sky across Western Washington [US]
King 5 News, 31st October 2012
Halloween proved to be an interesting night for law enforcement in at least four Western Washington counties after reports of a meteor falling to Earth.

The Snohomish County Sheriff's Office said deputies investigated a possible meteor falling somewhere near I-5 and Exit 212. That's between Stanwood and Arlington. K9 Officers also responded, but nothing was found. Deputies cleared the scene, saying "assuming it is a meteor, unless we hear otherwise."

Bill Gillam from Arlington said on Twitter, "Sounds like a meteor, space junk or aliens entered Washington airspace somewhere in Skagit County." He went on to say, "Last report was Hamilton in Skagit County."

Comment:
Yet, another 'meteor' reported over the United States but we must extrapolate and consider that this must be happening worldwide.... However, I would like to see some video and/or expert opinion first before making a final assessment. That goes for all the different objects entering our atmosphere from space.

Did You See The Bright Streak In The Sky?
WHNT 19 News, 31st October 2012
Update on reports of fireball earlier in the sky from Dr. Bill Cooke of NASA’s Marshall Space Flight Center: “This was NOT a Taurid meteor; probably a random interloper from the asteroid belt. Doppler weather radar shows a meteoritic “rain”, indicating that there are meteorites on the ground in Alabama. The radar signature is stronger than the recent California fireball, which produced meteorites in the San Francisco area.We are still working out a precise location for the meteor impact.”

After analyzing images, below is the likely streak from the meteor that moved across part of north/central Alabama’s sky around 5:25 pm this evening, captured on WHNT’s camera at Athens State University. [...] Below is a statement from Dr. Bill Cooke and an image of the path of the fireball.
“So the bolide appeared some 44 miles above a point midway between the towns of Stanton and Mason, and moved slightly north of east at a speed 3 times faster than that of the International Space Station, finally terminating above the town of Pinson, which is southeast of Jackson, TN. Altitude at last visibility was 18.1 miles, which is fairly low for a meteor.”
According to Dr. Bill Cooke at NASA’s Marshall Space Flight Center, in order for a sonic boom to occur the, meteorite must be below 30 miles above earth’s surface, meaning the meteorite likely penetrated very low in our atmosphere. The sonic boom sends shock waves through the atmosphere, eventually striking the ground, which can be picked up by seismologists and something registered on seismographs around 5:29 pm which corresponds around the time of the multiple reports of the fireballs in the sky. Below is a seismogram sent in by amateur seismologist Steve Jones which shows a clear spike registered just before 5:30 pm this evening.

The fireball was officially clocked at 6:11 a.m. local time, with over 60 eyewitness accounts of the sighting across the South.

That wasn't the only report of a meteor in the sky on Tuesday. Cooke confirmed Tuesday night that another meteor was spotted over several counties in North Alabama.

'Meteor' prompts Devon and Cornwall tremor reports [UK]
BBC News, 19th October 2012
People across Devon and Cornwall have inundated police with calls saying they had experienced an earth tremor. Officers from the region said they received reports of people hearing loud bangs and buildings shaking from about 16:15 BST on Thursday.

Police staff in Devon's Newton Abbot station also said floors shook. The British Geological Survey said it had no evidence of a tremor, but added it could have been a sonic boom from a meteor falling to earth.

'Spectacular' noise source

Police said the calls were "fairly widespread", coming in from Harrowbarrow in south east Cornwall, as well as the South Hams and Teignbridge areas of south Devon, the Tamar Valley and Dartmoor. Insp Gareth Twigg, of Devon and Cornwall Police, said: "The first calls reported sounds like an explosion. Further calls also described noise and then objects shaking.

Conspiracy theories abound in wake of Camp Minden bunker explosion
Shreveport Times, 17th October 2012
In the more than eight hours it took Webster authorities to confirm an explosion at Camp Minden, those who felt the boom late Monday night came up with their own theories.

Facebook posts allude to meteorites, aliens, government cover-ups, earthquakes and even falling ash and debris as possible causes.

"I think it is something top secret that crashed ...," Rhonda Burns Dyson commented on The Times' Facebook page. "My friend lives on (Lake) Bistineau and he saw a fireball fall from the sky ... . He drove by Camp Minden and nothing ... . There is more to this, but we'll probably never be told the truth."

Explo Systems Inc. officials canceled two news conferences Tuesday morning, which only fueled conspiracy rumors. Despite repeated attempts, The Times has yet to receive an official statement from Explo.

Comment:
Oh dear, it seems that the locals don't believe the official story and there might be some effort to make this explosive event turn into joke fodder. The people with broken windows won't be laughing, but the Mindenites & Meteorites t-shirts might still sell.... As you can imagine, if you live near a military installation, the first thing you would do after hearing and feeling a loud blast is check out whether it was local.... Apparently, according to a Facebook entry, not even the local Fire Dept were allowed to go near the site AFTER it was deemed to have been a local explosion....

Important Comment:

The comparison with what happened in Russia must also include other ammunition dumps just blowing up for no reason in recent years see, BBC News Turkey grenade depot blast kills, 6th September 2012, other incidents are included too, but use google to find more examples... The issue is that if highly charged plasma and/or meteors are coming in from space then they might be triggering explosives. Chemicals are just a dance of electromagnetic charges but the balance can change under certain geomagnetic conditions. Thus, with the erratic planetary geomagnetic conditions (NASA calls the planet ringing like a bell due to the big solar wind "shocks" etc "spacequakes",) we are likely to get many more ammunition dumps just blowing up. This may be the exact same reason that explains why nuclear weapons can blow up for no apparent reason and when this started happening in the early 1960s, it even frightened the psychopaths in charge... When the geomagnetic conditions on this planet started to change, nuclear testing was dramatically curtailed and up until now it has not been obvious why nuclear testing was stopped because concern for the environment has never been much of a consideration.... It is starting to look like waging war will be at your own peril! Is this what the transition to a new heaven on Earth looks like? This is a huge deal...

Fireball Meteorite Impacts Earth in Minden, Louisiana - Media and Government Cover It Up
SOTT.net, 17th October 2012
[...] Sott.net has been tracking the startling increase in reports of meteorite/comet fragment sightings and impacts for at least 8 years, and there have been many hundreds of such reports in that time period. This alone should give us cause for concern. Check out the above link to get an idea of just how frequent meteorite/comet fragment sightings have become. Of course, you might say that this apparent increase could just be the result of us paying more attention, but the numbers don't lie. For example, browsing the right bar links on the above Sott.net blog, you'll notice that in 2004, 2005 and 2006, reports were consolidated into two month periods, and there were, on average, less than 10 sightings over that 2-month period. By contrast, in 2008, reports were plentiful enough to begin collating them into monthly records and, since then, their number has increased steadily.

Coming back to the present; over the past few days, several reports of meteorite/comet fragment sightings and impacts across the globe have been registered. However, I want to look at one specific event that occurred two days ago on Monday 15th October.

Comment:
SOTT.net has been taking the threat of asteroids and comets seriously for a long time but they don't talk in the language of space weather and the existence of our solar system being in an interstellar debris field. [There are a few issues with this report or piece of speculation as there are claims that the photos of the Minden Camp explosion and train wreck are from a 2006 KLSA article. In 2006, there was a black powder explosion at Camp Minden on a Friday and 600 kids were evacuated from 2 schools and over 400 prisoners were evacuated (link), so well old facts are being mixed up with new facts, the only reliable reports are from very early media and eye witness reports... The photos are simply not consistent with the story of a bunker explosion, besides the fact that all military camps in the vicinity immediately told authorities that they had nothing to report... The radar anomaly seems inconsistent with a smoke plume too and rocks from space don't normally float in at 10 miles an hour... However, the detail of the ash reminds me of Robert Felix's theory about magnetic reversals and evolutionary leaps that he explains in his 2nd book Magnetic Reversal and Evolutionary Leaps. Quite frankly I was stunned as Felix explains what happens when the magnetic field collapses or magnetic field lines 'merge' and tremendous amounts of energy are released that he uses to explain Earth's past geological history.] Anyway, experts tell us that at any given moment 9,000 asteroids are passing by Earth (according to spaceweather.com, on October 17, 2012 there were 1337 potentially hazardous asteroids). This is why various space agencies are rushing to build radar and infra-telescopes to detect the few asteroids that are virtually invisible until they are extremely close by and sometimes they are only detected when they have already passed us by. My interest is that the interstellar debris field is being carried along by primordial cosmic energies that are delivering massive evolutionary change. Some of the plasma drops into our atmosphere have extremely strange affects. There are objects that are not asteroid rocks or cometary debris, as they seem to be intelligently controlled pure plasma entities... Check my archives for lots of examples, Best of the Blog Space Weather Asteroids, Fireballs, Meteorites, Ghost Rockets & Other Strange 'Heavenly Phenomena'. Please remember, there is likely to be a lot of information that is being withheld or simply obscure and hard to find, (the US military are even hiding fireball data from astronomers now....). Currently, there are not so many people interested in what is taking place on this planet, but the way things are going that will soon change as thoughts of self preservation start to grab hold of those with a bit more intelligence and academic ability.

3-D Radar of Mystery Object That Hit Louisiana
Accuweather, 16th October 2012
The NWS in Shreveport published a story and some radar images this morning about a mystery object, saying "There is a lot of speculation about what might have occurred, but regardless of what occurred, a large flash was observed, citizens were shaken out of bed and windows were shattered during the late night hours October 15th." I pulled some 3D radar images from GRLevelX software this morning: [...]

So you can see that, although we do have a few different horizontal layers we're looking at (the 2-D shots here are at 1.5 degrees elevation, where the signal was the strongest), clearly the software is estimating a spherical object by rounding off the corners (and in 3D mode, the strongest return (yellow) is blended out completely).

I'm sure we'll know more later today, but my quick observations this morning: This was a significant object, showing up at a reflectivity of 42 dBZ (which would normally be "moderate rain") but it is also a very small object, when seen in comparison to the radar screen:

Comment:
Well, is this the start of some kind of cosmic conflagration? It's happened before on this planet and with the hit in Russia last week, it looks like another has started...

Update:

From The Anomalist: A large, very bright possible meteorite streaked across the Louisiana sky late Monday night. The bright lights in the sky were accompanied by a tremendous boom that rattled windows and residents for hundreds of miles. Some people reported seeing two lights, one intercepting the other and most all reported that the lights were visible for more than a few seconds as they traveled across the night sky. Hundreds reported it to the police and their local news, which is par for the course. What is not typical is what happened afterward, when the official explanation suddenly changed from "meteorite crash" to an immense explosion at an underground munitions bunker at Camp Minden industrial park: Bunker Explosion Lights Up Louisiana Night, despite all the meteorite sightings reported. 15 or 20 years ago, this story would have only caused a local stir and speculation with a few rumbles of "conspiracy!" and maybe scored a sidenote on the major news networks Officials are not acknowledging the "strange lights in the sky" reports and canceled a planned press conference on Tuesday. However, the public outcry is growing in response to those actions and meteorite sightings continue to pile up on forums, comment sections of news stories, Facebook and Twitter. There are so many inconsistencies surrounding this event that it is starting to sound a lot like Roswell. Is there a cover-up going on? If so, of what? Some sort of crash? It's not just random speculation either, as this article from AccuWeather with this 3-D Radar of Mystery Object That Hit Louisiana. Even the National Weather Service repeatedly referred to it as a "mystery object". We find it hard to believe that the NWS would mistake a plume of flame/smoke from an explosion for an unidentified flying object. Whatever happened in Louisiana also happened in Russia last week as an Explosion at Russian military test site rocked the city of Orenburg, causing the evacuation of nearby towns. Details on the Russian event are scarce but it is so eerily similar it rings our alarm bells. What is particularly interesting about this whole thing is the public's response to the official explanation. To put it simply, people aren't buying it There is so much information on the Louisiana event that we can't possibly summarize it all here, but this thread at Above Top Secret is an excellent place to start if you want to dig deeper: What just happened in northwest Louisiana? Unexplained Explosion.

Comment:
This is a good status report of what happened and why so many people are refusing to believe the "official" explanations especially as the media has chosen to repeat photos and news about an explosion from 6 years ago... This is extremely poor effort in terms of a cover-up. Something floated in from space and something and detonated in our atmosphere that broke windows over a 70 mile radius, shook people out of beds and a few houses nearly off their foundations. A strange radar anomaly also was found on weather radar drifting at 10 miles an hour that has only added to the mystery.

Something shakes northwest Louisiana
Shreveport Times, 16th October 2012
Northwest Louisiana authorities are investigating the source of whatever shook people's residences and businesses about 11:40 p.m. Monday.

The Webster sheriff's office now is entertaining the possibility that it may have been a meteorite, possibly in the Dixie Inn area. There have been a large number of reports stating that they saw something come down instead of something blow up, a spokesman said.

And a woman reported hearing what sounded like debris hit a shop on Bellevue Road in the Dixie Inn area. If it was a meteorite, that would fall to NASA and the Air Force to investigate. A spokeswoman for Barksdale Air Force Base public affairs said that the installation is investigating and that whatever the source, it didn't originate at the base. [...]

Webster authorities still don't know what it was or where it hit, Sheriff Gary Sexton just said. Thermal-imaging cameras showed nothing off Elmo Burton Loop near Dixie Inn, but helicopters are expected to be in the air this morning to survey the area along U.S. 80 and Interstate 20 for the cause of what caused the ground to shake.

Reports of the shaking came in from Lake Bistineau, Springhill, Sibley and Barksdale Air Force Base. Sexton earlier said he was driving in the Springhill-Cullen area when he saw two flashes from the south. One report says it shook the Webster Courthouse in Minden.

A resident of the Lake Bistineau area reports that it almost shook their house off its foundation.

Comment:
According the US National Weather Service, the blast was violent enough to knock people out of their beds, this could have been caused by a big meteor exploding in the Earth's atmosphere and sending out shock waves.... The rather late cover story [the horse had already well and truely bolted on this one] is a bunker blew up, but that's hard to reconcile with the original media and social media reports of bright flashes and the sky glowing orange. I have saved screen copies of these original reports as I am sure many others have done the same.

Interesting Phenomenon Monday night in Webster Parish
National Weather Service/NOAA, 16th October 2012
Monday night at around 11:26 pm, some type of atmospheric phenomenon occurred to the southwest of Dixie Inn, in Webster Parish, approximatey 4 miles southwest of Minden, or 28 miles east of Shreveport. The initial event occurred at Latitude/Longitude 35.578 N, -93.351 W. There is a lot of speculation about what might have occurred, but regardless of what occurred, a large flash was observed, citizens were shaken out of bed and windows were shattered during the late night hours October 15th.

Camp Minden bunker explosion rocks northwest Louisiana area residents [Photos]
Clarion Ledger, 16th October 2012
MINDEN, LA. — Many northwest Louisiana residents were shaken by a massive bunker explosion late Monday -- but while nerves were rattled and even some windows broken, no injuries were reported.

"A large flash was observed," the Shreveport, La., National Weather Service reported, according to Accuweather. "[C]itizens were shaken out of bed and windows were shattered during the late night hours Oct. 15. [...]

Sheriff Gary Sexton said some home video surveillance cameras as far as 25 miles away captured the sound of the explosion and glow in the sky.

So, are the military outfiot EXplo going to pay for all the broken windows after not even bothering to report the so-called bunker test? It might turn out to be an expensive test as apparently windows were broken in 70 mile radius as it was sighted, heard and felt in 5 states...

Very Near Earth Asteroid Traffic Up!
spaceweather.com, 12th October 2012
ASTEROID FLYBY--TODAY: Newly-discovered asteroid 2012 TC4 will fly past Earth on Oct. 12th only 96,000 km (0.25 LD) away. There is no danger of a collision, but the 16 meter-wide space rock will be close enough to photograph through backyard telescopes as it brightens to approximately 14th magnitude. NASA hopes to ping this this object with radar, refining its orbit and possibly measuring its shape. Stay tuned for updates.

Comment:

House-Size Asteroid Comes Closer to Earth Than the Moon Friday: Watch Live
Space.com, 11th October 2012
A newfound asteroid the size of a house will fly closer to Earth than the moon on Friday (Oct. 12), but poses no danger of impacting our planet, NASA says.

The space rock, called asteroid 2012 TC4, is about 56 feet wide (17 meters) and will come within 59,000 miles (95,000 kilometers) of Earth at its closest point when it zips harmlessly by on Friday. That's about one-fourth the distance to the moon.

Amazing Meteor Boomerangs Around Earth
Sky & Telescope, 2nd October 2012

Asteroid Dust Could Fight Climate Change on Earth
Space.com, 28th September 2012
To combat global warming, scientists in Scotland now suggest an out-of-this-world solution — a giant dust cloud in space, blasted off an asteroid, which would act like a sunshade for Earth.

Instead of altering the climate by targeting either the oceans or the atmosphere, some researchers have suggested geoengineering projects that would affect the entire planet from space. For instance, projects that reduced the amount of solar radiation Earth receives by 1.7 percent could offset the effects of a global increase in temperature of 3.6 degrees F (2 degrees C). The United Nations' Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) has noted climate models suggest average global temperatures will likely rise by 2 to 11.5 degrees F (1.1 to 6.4 degrees C) by the end of this century. "A 1.7 percent reduction is very small and will hardly be noticeable on Earth," said researcher Russell Bewick, a space scientist at the University of Strathclyde in Scotland. "People sometimes get the idea of giant screens blocking the entire sun. This is not the case ... as [the device] is constantly between the sun and the Earth, it acts merely as a very light shade or filter.

Comment:
This is another half-baked geoengineering idea.... Putting an asteroid at Lagrange point 1 [L1], the location of the ACE, SOHO and WIND satellites might not be such a good idea. (There is a problem here because astronomers and space scientists can't agree on a naming convention but L2 is also the location of other satellites, so whatever the real location turns out, L1 or L2, it would just cause a major hazard for satellites.) The ACE and SOHO satellites are old with some of the instruments permanently broken down and new replacement satellites are needed, but they currently provide essential interplanetary data to help predict oncoming space weather. We get 45 minutes warning from ACE of a CME arrival if we are lucky.... the idea of putting an asteroid there to create dust that causes the solar panels to degrade quickly cannot possibly have been thought out... More dust means more damage to solar panels and that is a major new issue caused by space weather and the influx of dust and micometeroids into our solar system. Whatever, it makes you wonder whether Earth is getting a natural sunshade with the wider appearance and coverage of noctilucent clouds that have been creeping south in recent years.

How Many Asteroids Are Out There?
Universe Today, 25th September 2012
Answer: a LOT. And there’s new ones being discovered all the time, as this fascinating animation by Scott Manley shows.

Created using data from the IAU’s Minor Planet Center and Lowell Observatory, Scott’s animation shows the progression of new asteroid discoveries since 1980. The years are noted in the lower left corner. Remove this ad

As the inner planets circle the Sun, asteroids light up as they’re identified like clusters of fireflies on a late summer evening. The clusters are mainly positioned along the outer edge of Earth’s orbit, as this is the field of view of most of our telescopes.

Comment:
Today, various space agencies want to use new radar and infra-red satellites to track big asteroids that are virtually invisible until they come very close to Earth, in order to detect potential direct hits, as has happened already in recent years with lots of small rocks entering Earth's atmosphere.

Huge fireball seen in sky over Ireland
Irish Times, 22nd September 2012
A MASSIVE fireball was seen right across Ireland last night which may be “one of the best ever seen” in Europe and was a “huge event”, according to Astronomy Ireland. The trail of fragments passed across the sky at about 10.55pm with sightings reported from Dublin, Donegal, Cork, Sligo, Carlow, Longford, Antrim and across Britain and as far away as as The Netherlands.

It was “very unusual to see it in multiple countries,” David Moore of Astronomy Ireland said. [...] Mr Moore said the cause of the fireball was not yet clear. “It is a piece of space debris, but whether it is man made or natural is not known,” he said.

He said it was too slow for natural debris and was going the wrong direction for man-made debris. “It is probably a space rock that has skidded across the atmosphere.” Meteorites will have been dropped “but whether they landed in Ireland or at sea we will have to figure out”, he said.

Witnesses described a trail of seven to 12 fireballs in a straight line across the sky. No sound was to be heard either by witnesses in the city or the countryside.

Comment:
The expert opinion here explains the dilemma of why this object is hard to identify, but what we are being told here is that this astronomer suspects there was a huge meteor (space rock) skimming Earth's atmosphere with an entourage of smaller meteors that dropped and those meteors fragmented.... Bombs away.... Whatever, if you look in the archives, Ireland had a huge meteor seen across the country only a few years ago... Huge meteors are becoming common, but still, there was no warning that anything big was coming close to Earth.... This expert opinion reveals that there is a bigger issue than just satellites coming down.... Please note: it is only last week that it was announced, "The European Space Agency today said it would develop a radar system that will be capable of tracking space hazards such as asteroids and orbital debris." This requirement must now seem to be more even more urgent.

'Meteors' sighted in skies across UK
BBC News, 22nd September 2012
"Brian Guthrie in Grangemouth near Edinburgh, who watched the objects pass through the sky, said it appeared to be something "pretty large breaking up in the atmosphere". Dr Tim O'Brien, associate director of the Jodrell Bank Observatory, told the BBC is was difficult to know the cause the meteor shower.

"It's hard to say exactly, whether it was a chunk of rock coming in from outer space, burning up in the atmosphere or a bit of space debris, we call it, space junk, which is basically man-made stuff from a spacecraft that's burning up in the atmosphere.

"[The meteor was] probably 80 miles up or so, high up, moving very fast, actually, 18,000 miles an hour, probably, at least." Mr Johnston agreed the cause was probably orbital debris.

Comment:
The BBC are now reporting the opinion of astronomers that this was probably space debris(a large satellite) coming down but why was there no warning?

'Meteor shower' over Northern Ireland 'space junk'
BBC News, 22nd September 2012
"A BBC Northern Ireland film crew captured footage of the bright objects in the sky over Ballymena in County Antrim. A suspected meteor shower spotted in the skies above Northern Ireland was probably space junk, experts have said. Dr Tim O'Brien, associate director of the Jodrell Bank Observatory, said the lights could have been from a bigger chunk of something that burned out."

Fireball Meteor or Re-Entering Satellite? “Something” Broke Up Over the UK on Friday [VIDEOS]
Universe Today, 22nd September 2012
Twitter is all abuzz with sightings of a huge fireball meteor that streaked across the skies Friday night at approximately 22:00 UTC. There are reports from Northern Ireland, Scotland, and Central England. I’m going to link a bunch of videos so you can check out the event from multiple angles, but I want to make a completely unscientific judgement: it kind of looks like a re-entering spacecraft. [...]

Comment:
After reading the reports I agreed that this might have been yet another satellite breaking up over the UK and not a meteor BEFORE I read the BBC reports from astronomers thinking out loud the same. The author of this piece provides plenty of video clips but there are warnings about the profanities being used as people are shocked from witnessing this amazing event, but this is now happing quite often. A changing cosmic environment and space weather means that there are thousands of dead satellites that could steadily come crashing down in the future.

Incoming! Meteor or Comet Fragment Explodes Above Southwestern US, Prompting US Army 'Missiles' Cover-up
SOTT.net, 16th September 2012
On Thursday morning, 13th September 2012, early risers from all over the southwestern United States - California, Nevada, Utah, Colorado and New Mexico - were stunned by the appearance of a vivid luminescent trail high up in the atmosphere. Photos taken by residents reminded me of the glowing trail seen across the Caucasus on the 7th June 2012 (which I have written about here). My suspicion that we were looking at the arrival and overhead explosion of yet another meteor or cometary fragment (MoCF) solidified when I read some of the ridiculous claims of the US Army that they had test-fired a rocket/missile at 5.30am local time on the 13th of September.

Comment:
Niall Bradley has done some work and confirmed my suspicions that official sources were lying by claiming that three missiles were test-fired over a densely populated area....

Europe sets sights on asteroid tracking radars
Would radars help track the 14-story size asteroid currently approaching Earth?
Network World, 12th September 2012
The European Space Agency today said it would develop a radar system that will be capable of tracking space hazards such as asteroids and orbital debris. ESA and France's Office National d'Etudes et Recherches Aérospatiales - research center will work with five other partners in France, Spain and Switzerland to this month design a test surveillance radar and develop a $6 million demonstrator model.

Comment:
It is public knowledge that about 9,000 asteroids are passing Earth at any one point in time, but it seems that the increasing number of cosmic objects entering Earth's atmosphere is of concern to world controllers.... The space agencies need radar because these objects are essentially invisible due to the type of energy cloaking the asteroids and detection must be done in exactly the same way as we detect UFOs or UAPs. For those interested in the metaphysical implications, the asteroids are being carried on a tide of primordial energy from deep space, this energy is creative and transformative and that is why we can expect a spiritual transformation on this planet. The affects have already been noticeable for a few decades already.

Space Weather - Double Asteroid Flyby but Another asteroid hits Jupiter
spaceweather.com, 11th September 2012
DOUBLE ASTEROID FLYBY: A pair of big, near-Earth asteroids will fly by the Earth-Moon system on Sept. 14th. 2012 QG42 is a 300-meter space rock that comes from the inner asteroid belt; it will pass 2.8 million km (7.4 lunar distances) from Earth. 2012 QC8 is even bigger, about 1.1 km in diameter, hailing from the vicinity of Jupiter; it will pass about 8.7 million km (22.7 lunar distances) from Earth.

Astronomers monitoring the incoming space rocks say they are glowing like 14th to 15th magnitude stars, which makes them good targets for advanced amateur telescopes. Ephemerides: 2012 QG42, 2012 QC8.

EXPLOSION ON JUPITER: Apparently, something hit Jupiter during the early hours of Sept. 10th (11:35 UT), igniting a ferocious fireball in the giant planet's cloudtops. Amateur astronomer Dan Peterson Racine, Wisconsin, saw it first through his Meade 12" LX200 telescope. "It was a bright white flash that lasted only 1.5 - 2 seconds," he reports. Another amateur astronomer, George Hall of Dallas, Texas, was video-recording Jupiter at the time, and he confirmed the fireball with this video screenshot:

Comment:
Everytime Jupiter gets hit and a massive eruption is seen by amateur astronomers, we are reminded of just how precarious things are these days as we know Earth is in the midst of an asteroid debris field... the space weather issue is getting very serious...

Daytime fireballs spark ground fires in Okanagan Valley, British Columbia
SOTT.net, 11th September 2012
Several residents report seeing fiery streaks in the sky around the same time as the Trepanier Creek Wildfire that started near Trepanier Linear Park Sunday afternoon.

"I was driving north up Highway 97 when I saw a really, really bright light coming straight down, off to the right over the lake," said Philip Hare of Kelowna. "It was so close I felt like I could touch it, then it was gone. Then I heard about the fire and thought that was way too coincidental for me."

Hare reported the sighting at 3 p.m., the fire started around the same time. "It was a flash of bright white, blue hot with flames."

Others, sitting in their swimming pools or driving, report seeing balls of fire with flaming tails in the area near where the blaze began and other points to the northeast. Coincidentally or not there was another fire that started near Falkland around the same time as the one in Peachland. The origin of that fire, is also, still under investigation.

Comment:
I agree with SOTT.net for changing the headline, fireballs from space is not joke material... There does seem to be an uptick in reports of fires associated with fireballs, but this is still not common compared to the amount of fireball reports... It is noticeable that there tends to be a media blackout if it is related to unannounced space junk falling down. We know this because over the last few years, the speedy internet often provides interesting information ignored by the media in general. However, there are now many more reports of meteorites blazing across the skies, a few hitting houses (and even cars and people) plus a few major searches when big objects fall. SOTT.net is quite good at paying attention to the continuous reports.

Dazzling Army Missile Test Triggers UFO Reports in Western US
Fox News/Space.com, 14th September 2012
[...] Marlin said her office received more than 100 calls and a flood of emails from observers who saw the Juno rocket's contrail from states across the Southwest. According to the Associated Press, the missile test led to widespread reports from people who regarded the shiny rocket exhaust as a UFO sighting in the sky.

Marlin said she received calls from as far away as Denver, Salt Lake City in Utah, Las Vegas and Los Angeles reporting the sighting. "Conditions were just right for it to be seen from far away," Marlin said, adding that the view was caused when the Juno missile's exhaust froze in the upper atmosphere. "When it freezes, those little ice crystals act like prisms to reflect sunlight. It creates that amazing light show." Because the contrail crossed several layers of the Earth's atmosphere, it was sculpted by high altitude winds, perhaps surprising observers used to seeing the straight-line contrails from airplanes, she added.

Missile streaks across Valley skies [Photos]
KTAR Arizona News, 13th September 2012
PHOENIX -- Three New Mexico missiles created a spectacular predawn light show Thursday in the Valley. Calls flooded the 92.3 KTAR Newsroom phone lines after the trail of fuel and smoke was lit up by the sunrise.

Drew Hamilton with the White Sands Base in New Mexico said a Juno missile was launched from Fort Wingate near Gallup toward White Sands and a pair of missiles brought it down. "We were testing the Patriot Advanced Capability 3. The Juno was the target and they fired two Patriots from White Sands to successfully intercept it."

Comment:
We have conflicting reports because here "official" sources are claiming that a missile was fired and then shot down.... There are 10 photos here that don't provide any proof that this object was shot down. If you go through the archives it is similar to what people have been calling "sperm" ufos that have been seen around the world. I think it is clear that despite the fact they leave a signature of what looks like a missile trail, video footage analysis suggests we are seeing plasma entities coming in from space. Rather like meteors that ionise air and create a cloak of plasma around themselves as they arrive, in these instances, there is no rock, it is just a ball of plasma arriving.... Our universe is filled with plasma objects, entities and phenomena. This new plasma world that we sometimes think of as strange and bizarre is increasingly being seen by people around the world.

FAA: Mysterious Roof Holes Not Caused by Falling Frozen Waste
Yahoo News, 11th September 2012
Two Long Island families with mysterious holes in their roofs think plummeting frozen waste from overhead airplanes might be the cause of their troubles.

Lois Farella awoke to a thunderous crash at 3:30 a.m. on Sunday morning (Sept. 9) and found that her roof had a hole the size of a basketball leading straight through the shingles, plywood and insulation, according to CBS New York. At the same time, the roof of Farella's next-door neighbor's house got a similar makeover. And when her roofer, Bryan Lanzello, investigated the damage, he reportedly found a brown, wet stain in the attic where the offending object would have landed.

Comment:

A thermal airburst impact structure
Crater Hunter, March 30, 2010
"... exploding comet detonating high in the atmosphere, and becoming a supersonic down draft of thermal impact plasma. [...] The old way of imagining one of those events was to think of it as a point explosion high in the atmosphere. And it’s still popular in the press to pretend the atmosphere dissipates the blast. As you can see, it doesn’t. Using super computers has allowed them to retain the downward momentum. So we can see the impact vortex hit the ground as a supersonic blast hotter than the surface of the sun. It would be naive to a fault to think such energies can be dissipated without significant planetary scarring, or ablative geomorphology.

And, in fact, in north central Mexico, the recent marks of thermal airburst down blasts are terribly common. Forensically speaking there are thousands of square miles of pristine blast effected materials in central Mexico that describe the fall of a super cluster of too many air bursting fragments like the one Dr Boslough’s simulation shows, and even larger, to count.
The facts are that if space weather is severe enough, a big comet can impact Earth and the hot plasma can carve out the landscape amd form a mountain range.

Hundreds witness meteor shooting across skies of Greater Manchester
Manchester Evening News, 28th August 2012
A mystery 'fireball' spotted in the skies above Manchester on Monday night was a meteor, experts have said.

The bright object was seen to shoot across the atmosphere before disappearing just seconds later behind the clouds.

Hundreds of people witnessed the phenomenon at around 11.10pm on Monday night. Experts have now confirmed it was a golf ball sized meteor, which exploded above South Wales and caused a sonic boom, shaking windows and setting off car alarms.

The rare sight caused alarm on Twitter with Manchester residents tweeting their amazement at the incident.

Comment:
Well, we have been told officially that 9,000 asteroids are passing Earth at any one time but the implications seem to be lost on the mainstream media. So, our solar system is now passing through an asteroid debris field with some objects that are so hard to detect that NASA et al are being forced to use infra-red and radar. Apparently, the rocks are being shrouded in primeval energy and this primeval energy should be of great interest to anyone interested in the spiritual implications of what is happening on this planet. But, there is not much interest from the metaphysical community because as I have found out, most who claim to be spiritual leaders don't understand much at all about a spiritual universe and mostly deal at a very low level running little cultic enterprises, sects and big religion. Thus, there is a widespread lack of interest and a complete disconnect with the foundations of the original religion on this planet that was based on understanding what was going on in the heavens because on a regular basis, we were subjected to major apocalyptic events i.e. 'judgement' by fire or water. Today, the true meaning of esoteric knowledge that was preserved as being important and sacred has been generally lost. Sigh...

Blasts in southern Israel: Rockets suspected in Sinai bombing (PHOTOS)
RT News, 16th August 2012
Israeli officials suspect that two large explosions that rocked the Israeli city of Eilat may have been the result of a rocket attack. Authorities are currently scouring the area for evidence of a Grad missile strike.

The explosions hit Eilat near the city’s border with Egypt’s Sinai Peninsular on Wednesday evening, and were felt throughout the city. No casualties were reported.

"We heard two loud explosions. It was really scary, last time this happened the entire house shook," Eilat resident Rotem told Israeli newspaper Ynet.

An asteroid nearly a mile wide will hurtle past Earth on Sunday July 22. The asteroid is estimated to be 2,000 to 4,500ft wide, and qualifies as a 'near Earth object'. NEA (near-Earth asteroid) 2002 AM31 is described as 'the size of a city block'. Astronomers say not to panic - it will pass through space 14 times further from Earth than the Moon. [...]

'One of our missions at Slooh is to provide the public with free, live views on fascinating celestial happenings,' says Patrick Paolucci, President at Slooh.

'Near-Earth asteroid 153958 (2003 AM31) represents 1 of approximately 9,000 whizzing past Earth at any given moment, and we wanted to highlight this one as it's only 13.7 lunar distances from Earth - similar to near-Earth asteroid LZ1 which zoomed past us unexpectedly mid-June.'

Comment:
This article only got a mention because there is a direct quote from a space scientist telling us that there are 'approximately 9,000 [Near-Earth asteroids] whizzing past Earth at any given moment'.... Well, it has been public knowledge for a while that Earth is now in an asteroid debris field, but I am still amazed by this figure.... Hence, it is no wonder that there are now so many reports of small meteorites crashing to Earth, as the smallest rocks simply cannot be detected...

Soldier reports 'glowing green orb' at Fort Sill Army post
UFO Examiner, 17th July 2012
A solider at the Fort Sill, OK, U.S. Army post reports an early morning sighting of a "dull-green, glowing orb that slowly descended" toward the ground level on July 17, 2012, according to testimony from the Mutual UFO Network (MUFON) witness reporting database. [...]

The witness thought the object was peculiar.

"But the way it descended and then suddenly stopped was very peculiar. It was visible by many soldiers that were standing in a brigade formation and many of us agreed it indeed could be an extraterrestrial presence. It only lasted for 30 seconds and no sound was heard when it supposedly crash-landed and we thought nothing further of it."

Comment:
The description provided here is exactly the same as other UAP arrivals accept this is a green orb and not a red orb. Whatever the colour, there are many reports of objects flying in at a slow speed, stopping dead and then literally plopping into the Earth. In the Planetophysical Report (1998), Russian scientists revealed that there was an exodus of plasma entities from mountainous regions, so this two-way traffic has been described as "the changing of the guard" by some in the metaphysical community, see archives for similar reports. This even got to the stage where eye witness reports indicated that some of these entities needed help and so some departures appeared to be 'rescue' operations for some entities who could not leave on their own... Whatever, in recent years, we have seen many many reports of new plasma entities arriving. So, as far as I am concerned, the 'Planetary Refresh' and transformation of Earth has been well underway for many years....

THE RETURN OF THE INCREDIBLE GREEN FIREBALLS: NEW FILMS OF A UFO MYSTERY
The Bragalia Files, 17th July 2012
Nature provides man with wondrous atmospheric displays from comets to the Northern Lights. As awe-inspiring and infrequent as these phenomena are, they all have prosaic origins as explained by science. Much less understood (and far more rare) are the enigmatic Green Fireballs. The Green Fireball is often associated with historical sightings that occurred in areas like the State of New Mexico and near our National Laboratories, such as Sandia and Los Alamos.

These unusually-behaved luminous balls of ethereal green were very different from conventional meteors and were seen to perform extraordinary aerial feats during the late 1940s and early 1950s. Military and intelligence authorities at that time even had a top-secret project called “Twinkle” whose objective was to trace the mysterious green fireballs plaguing Southwest skies in particular. Then for some inexplicable reason, appearances of the green balls of fire tapered down and “winked out.” Or did they?

- Revealed here are remarkable images (recently found buried within NASA space footage archives) of a Green Fireball that seems to “follow” our astronauts

- Striking and exceeding rare film has been located, also taken from space, where one can vividly see the strange Green Fireballs doing the impossible: exiting the earth’s atmosphere rather than entering it

Comment:
SOTT.net have collected quite a few of these reports in recent months, link. I have written about 'ghost rockets' that are part of Earth's Shadow Biosphere, and generally classified by military and scientists as Unidentified Aerial Phenomena. These atmospheric "plasma entities" seem to demonstrate intelligence but my stance is that these objects are working with our planet and are part of some kind of 'management team'. Based on information in the metaphysical community, some of these objects seem to be part of a planetary brain and act like neurons collecting and transmitting information, but there does seem to be periods when they are busy moving about from location to location and even flying in and out of our atmosphere, presumably transmitting information to other parts of our solar system. I believe the only way to view certain types of plasma behaviour is to draw a comparison with biophotons and the process of information transfer. As I wrote in Tuning the Diamonds (2012, e-book) ,
"Research has experimentally verified that human and other animal cells, as well as plant cells, radiate light called “biophotons”. This light has a component or property where it has the ability to exchanges information with other living cells, even over great distances. This light also makes up the human energy field, commonly referred to as the aura. Biophotons carry information and the amount we emit can be defined in terms of our Signal Power."
I think some of these UAPs are planet-sized geophotons (I coined this phrase on 22nd July 2012) and even inter-planetary sized that scientists mistake for comets (see previous comments on this subject) and therefore are far from being the “ultraweak” photon emissions normally seen from living systems. The most interesting part of this enigma is that these entities are arriving from elsewhere, indicating that management central is maintained elsewhere.... Well, I believe these green fireballs as well as some of the UAPs are busy keeping planet Earth operating to some kind of cosmic or universal plan. If you want to know more, you will have to hunt down the best sources of good information provided by a few savants in the metaphysical community.

New telescope to guard Earth from killer asteroids
RT News, 30th June 2012
Some 500,000 asteroids are circulating near-Earth space and some of them may pose a real danger to our planet. But a US company says it plans to build a telescope that will be able to watch them. Some asteroids may collide with Earth between 2020 and 2030, and only about 10,000 out of half a million have been catalogued to date – so time is of the essence. But the B612 Foundation is certain its future telescope called Sentinel, which may be launched into orbit around the sun in about five years, can help to chart the rest of them in less than six years of operation. [...] During its planned 5.5-year mission, Sentinel should be able to find 90 per cent of near-Earth asteroids that are 140 meters in diameter or larger, as well as some 50 per cent of those measuring at least 40 meters across.

Comment:
It does seem certain that space scientists expect at least a few major asteroids to hit Earth in the future... However, as I have written before scientists differ in their opinion about whether comets or asteroids are the bigger threat....

The end is nigh ... for asteroid disaster movies anyway
Fox News, 22nd June 2012
Like the poor Earthlings whose impending doom the genre chronicles, the asteroid disaster movie could be on its last legs.

That may not be immediately apparent, since a new killer-asteroid film, "Seeking a Friend for the End of the World," opens at theaters nationwide Friday (June 22). But scientists are making so much progress finding and tracking big, dangerous space rocks that a surprise civilization-threatening impact is becoming less and less realistic.

It's highly unlikely, for example, that a 6-mile-wide (10-kilometer) near-Earth asteroid — the size of the space rock thought to have wiped out the dinosaurs 65 million years ago — lurks out there undiscovered, researchers say. [...]

So in 20 or 30 years, movies that have asteroids wreaking havoc on even a regional scale may be unrealistic. And maybe that's just as well; a film about the destruction of Kansas or Illinois probably wouldn't fill the theaters.

Comment:
Due to the new killer-asteroid film, "Seeking a Friend for the End of the World," I think this is meant to be a proper status update concerning the real avalanche of asteroids coming our way. It seems that these scientists believe we can stop worrying about asteroids in 20 or 30 years when they have worked out how to mitigate or even eliminate them..... I think the Niburu comment to taunt 'conspiracy theorists' at the end of this piece is also a bit naughty....

Meteor strike on ISS is reminder of cosmic hazard
SEN News, 18th June 2012
(Sen) - Everyone knows what a pain it is when you get a chip on your car's windshield from a bit of flying grit. But on Earth it is usually fairly easy to call someone in to repair it.

NASA are currently evaluating a similar spot of damage to one of the viewing windows on the International Space Station to see if that needs to be replaced.

The chip that left a visible scar on the outer pane was caused by a tiny meteoroid or scrap of space debris travelling many times faster than a bullet. It hit one of seven panes in the orbiting outpost's European-built Cupola - the space equivalent to a conservatory.

Meteor streaks across local skies Ohio [US] (VIDEO)
MSNBC News, 15th June 2012
Did you see it? Lots of folks across northern Ohio did. A meteor streaking across the Ohio skies put on quite a show for a few brief seconds Thursday evening.

Reports began coming in just after 10 p.m. on Thursday of a bright object streaking across the sky at about 9:55 p.m.

"It was an incredible sight. It came from the south, streaked over head quickly and then within a second disappeared over Lake Erie," Kathy from Willoughby Hills, Ohio said. She described the sight as a bright white ball with a long, green tail.

Steven from Wooster, Ohio saw it too. He said he also saw "2 or 3 pieces that came off bottom and were traveling at a slower velocity."

Comment:
Direct video link here, Meteor sighted over Grand Rapids. There is a lot of activity due to space weather.... We are experiencing the passing of lots of rocks and asteroids due to Earth now bing inside an interstellar debris field carried along by an interesting tide of aetheric energy.... This means it is difficult to jump to any conclusions because we could be seeing real meteors and 'heavenly phenomena' (pure energy but looks and behaves like a meteor), plasma entities (magnetospheric plasmoids, and ghost rockets etc), plasma energy manifestations (missile wormholes and spirals etc) or satellites burning up in our atmosphere as they have been knocked out of their orbits or simply coming down due to the changes in the conditions in space.... It seems unless we get some "official" notification (and I realise that some are not automatic believers if you know what I mean), then only way to work out what is coming down is to have a good background knowledge of meteoric and satellite break-up events that cannot be disputed, the rest is then based on educated guesswork....

UFO seen over Israel apparently Russian ICBM test
Jerusalem Post, 8th June 2012
Hundreds of Israelis across country flood police lines with reports of a light in the sky, traveling in a spiral with a large trail behind it.

Russia announced on Thursday night that it had carried out a successful test of an inter-continental ballistic missile, seemingly explaining a mysterious moving light seen in the skies over Israel, Lebanon, Azerbaijan, Turkey and Jordan.

Hundreds of Israelis across the country flooded police lines with reports that they had seen a light in the sky, traveling in a spiral with a large trail behind it on Thursday night.

Comment:
The Jerusalem Post headline gives the impression they don't believe the official explanation.... well that's good.... The Russians are usually blamed for anything strange in the sky, it's almost like an ongoing joke.... It is really interesting to see the same arguments being repeated on the Forums between 'Forum Man' and those who actually understand some rocket science and know about missile testing procedures. We have been getting some strange apparitions in the sky for quite a few years now, the Norwegian spiral is the most well known because it was so spectacular. However, these plasma manifestations keep repeating themselves and presumably there are still too many people who want to believe that Russia likes to continually test missiles and then let them go out of control over densely populated areas.... This has now reached levels of complete incredulity that people are supposed to accept that Russia would conduct a missile 'test' over a volatile country like Israel... How could anyone believe this to be true? We need the Russians to get real and explain to the ignorant that this was a plasma phenomenon... This is a summary supplied by randomname over at ATS:
1) It's not a rocket.
2) The lights over Norway weren't anywhere near Russian missile test
3) Russia 3 days later denied that the Norway lights where their missile test (western media ignored their denial)
4) Spiral missile burns only go in one direction, really fast, and not evenly.
5) Spiral missile burns aren't blue, and don't have a dark center
6) These are the same spirals carved into the rocks 5000 years ago…
People have a choice, they can stay stupid or they can learn and evolve, it's that simple.

Topol hits target in Kazakhstan
The Voice of Russia, 8th June 2012
"The Strategic Missile Forces of the Russian Federation have conducted another successful test of the “Topol” Intercontinental Ballistic Missile, this time from the firing ground at "Kapustin Yar" in Astrakhan in Southern Russia. The exercise saw the missile accurately hit its target on the firing range "Sary-Shagan" in Kazakhstan.
So the Russians hit a target in Kazakhstan and that is a good enough excuse to explain away the presence of a major plasma manifestation seen over 5 different countries in the Middle East that includes Israel... Truly pathetic...

Cosmic Log MSNBC, 8th June 2012
Citing a report from RIA Novosti, the radio service said the missile "accurately hit its target" in a Kazakh firing range. However, Ynetnews quoted Yigal Pat-El, chairman of the Israel Astronomical Association, as saying the missile "most likely spun out of control, and its remnants and the fuel was what people saw."
At least the mainstream are reporting.... but citing an astronomer that the Russians allowed a missile to spin out of control over Israel as a legitimate explanation is ludicrous....

UFO or missile? Mystery lights raise havoc in Israel (VIDEO, PHOTOS)
RT News, 8th June 2012
Suspicions that the shining flying object could be a missile were further fuelled by a Russian Defense Ministry statement saying the country had successfully test-fired a Topol strategic intercontinental ballistic missile.

The launch was made from Russia’s southern Astrakhan region to a testing area in Kazakhstan 3500 km from Israel’s northern border where the object was seen.

The Russian Vesti-24 news channel quoted unnamed military officials as saying the missile hit the practice target despite the fact that it had an unusual flight trajectory.

Israelis nationwide report seeing UFO
YNet News, 7th June 2012
Mystery in Israel's skies: Hundreds of Israelis nationwide flooded police hotlines Thursday evening with reports about seeing an unidentified flying object in the nation's skies.

A prominent Israeli astronomer said the object flew above Lebanese territory and is not a meteor. The UFO was also clearly visible in Palestinian territories. A similar sighting in Norway three years ago turned out to be a failed missile test. [...]

"We saw a large trail of light traveling from a distant spot in the sky," Dorit from northern Israel reported. "We could not see the source of the light. The trail was massive. It was an unusual sight. Moments later we saw swirling movement where the light was coming from."

Comment:
This is a variation on similar UAP entries into our atmosphere but this one also spiralled... The only problem is there are reports of two objects and a big missile-like trail but this is over a very sensitive region of the world, but as we know, big UAPs especially don't seem to care about picking a convenient and quiet landing spot.... Hence, this sighting has caused a commotion in Israel.... I believe this type should be treated as a plasma phenomenon where spirals are caused by plasmas of opposite polarities colliding and creating a spiral just like how "mini-galaxies" can be formed in plasma research laboratory experiments.... See previous comments related to the Norway Spiral. The image here is probably a photoshop effort because the images and videos I have seen so far are not brilliant... Hopefully there will be more video and photos appearing on the internet... The "official" explanation will be interesting...

Never in a million years will a meteor spiral in the night sky.... this is a plasma manifestation! This object was seen in quite a few countries. I am having strange thoughts.... I wonder if these objects travelled together and when the smaller object was low enough down in our atmosphere, it then bailed and then moved horizontally as it travelled to it's final destination... Since this is plasma, when it 'disappears' it does not mean the energy no longer exists....

Team Setting Up Strategy For Hazardous NEOs
Red Orbit, 5th June 2012
Scientists have gathered with other experts to create a strategy for potentially hazardous Near earth Objects (NEOs).

Nearly 40 scientists, reporters, risk communications specialists, and Secure World Foundation staff participated in a meeting in November last year to come up with a strategy for dealing with hazardous NEOs.

The report created by the team will be presented at the United Nations Committee on the Peaceful Uses of Outer Space (COPUOS) and its Action Team-14 on NEOs during the 55th session of the UN COPUOS being held in Vienna, Austria.

During the meeting, the group explored in detail the views of risk communication experts and experienced science journalists on the development of a successful communications strategy. [...]

The experts determined that a support group should be created for hazardous NEOs, complete with analysts, planners, scientists, psychologists, emergency management experts and other functional experts.

Comment:
These people are behind the times.... NASA and other space agencies (including the Vatican, who own some state of the art observatories because they know from ancient texts that life on Earth is regularly affected by changes in the cosmic conditions) have been worrying about these NEOs for quite a few years now... Even amateurs have been finding undocumented asteroids and that is because our solar system is now experiencing a major influx associated with an interstellar debris field with asteroids and rocks of all sizes. Spaceweather.com keeps us up to date with NEOs (that have been detected) coming our way, but scientists can't spot everything and that is why nearly every week now there are reports of meteors making spectacular entries into our atmosphere.... What's more, we may be able to presume that some meteors could be causing sonic booms as they enter the atmosphere, but this is pure speculation because very little information is being given out in the mainstream media from official sources... See archives for previous reports of "mysterious booms" and the pathetic official response that meteors are 'rare' events even whilst there are weekly reports. Then there is the media reports about the military suppression of fireball data that caused major consternation amongst astronomers, but since then, NASA has set up a new network to detect fireballs.... Oh, and before I forget, there are other reports mainly over South America of strange booms that might be associated with satellites falling out of the skies and I even wonder whether there is a relationship with the big bloody hole in the Earth's magnetic field called the South Atlantic Anomaly that forces the Hubble to shut down every single time it passes this region due to the influx of cosmic radiation ...

Meteorite shower accompanied by huge blast-like sounds hit Katol region, India
The Watchers, 31st May 2012
“The phenomenon of balls of fire shooting from the sky accompanied by huge blast-like sounds was witnessed by many last Tuesday evening (May 22, 2012) around 5 p.m. The shower was travelling in the eastern direction and is the first such meteorite shower recorded in the Vidarbha region of Maharashtra,” said Bharat Adur, head of Akash Ganga Centre for Astronomy (AGCA), Thane.

A team of scientists from Mumbai went to Nagpur on Monday to investigate and study the impact of last Tuesday’s large meteorite shower in the Katol region which damaged several houses, an official said on Sunday.

Tentatively named ‘Vinoba Meteorite Shower 2012', the team will probe whether any crater has been formed in the region, covering a distance of around 200 sq km, Mr Adur said.

“Based on the information I received, at least six houses were affected because of this meteorite shower…only stony iron meteorites have such a huge impact,” said Mr Adur, adding, “We cannot declare anything immediately, and can only confirm the type of meteorite shower, once we visit the site.” [...]

Adur said that the meteor shower was accompanied by earth tremors measuring 2.1 on the Richter Scale, but it is not clear whether the cumulative effect of the meteorites falling created the quake or it was a coincidence (that the meteorite shower and earthquake occurred simultaneously). [...]

According to Adur, the pieces belong to a huge mass of around 30 metres in diameter which could have fallen from a travelling asteroid and entered the earth’s atmosphere.

“The piece disintegrated soon after entering our atmosphere and the meteorites hit the surface at a speed of over 17 km per second. If it had not disintegrated, the effects could have been disastrous for parts of Nagpur and other areas,” Adur pointed out.

Comment:
This was a major event as houses were damaged but the really interesting thing is the claims by scientists that the pieces they have already found came from a sizeable rock that was about 30 metres in diameter that disintegrated in the atmosphere... I believe we should link this event with the passing of two asteroids that swung very close to Earth; KP24, 23m across at 0.1 LD (28th May) and KT42 at 8m across at 0.05 LD (29th May), both of these asteroids were only spotted at very short notice, but I don't think we should believe these sizes based on the chunk that fell into our atmosphere.... see details below. I believe that I stated we were were likely to see meteors that are offloaded from the entourage of 'debris' that clings closely to these bigger rocks... This reminds me of metaphysical sources that wryly told us that if these bigger asteroids don't hit us, they will make a drop-off of energy (that presumably they are also dragging around with them) and we will benefit... I am not sure those people who had their houses damaged would be that interested in an 'higher' energy etheric download though.... I can only imagine that the booming noise as meteors past through our atmosphere is being caused and enhanced by the amount of highly charged plasma that now surrounds our planet.

Asteroid blows past Earth in near miss
WUWT, 29th May 2012
From ChicoEr.com Flying close enough to Earth that in astronomic terms one could feel the breeze as it passed, a small asteroid flashed by just after midnight today. NASA reported the space rock, with the unimaginative name of 2012 KT42, was just 8,700 miles above the atmosphere when it went by.

Small Asteroids Spotted Late Whizzing Close By Earth - Part II
Spaceweather.com, 29th May 2012

SMALL ASTEROID BUZZES EARTH: Newly-discovered asteroid 2012 KT42 is flying past Earth today (May 29th) only ~14,000 km above the planet's surface. This means 2012 KT42 will actually fly inside the Clark Belt of geosynchronous satellites. The 3- to 10-meter wide asteroid ranks # 6 on the top 20 list of closest-approachers to Earth. According to the asteroid's orbit, there is no danger of a collision. Even if it did hit, this space rock is too small to cause significant damage. It would likely disintegrate almost entirely in the atmosphere, peppering the ground below with relatively small meteorites. [flyby images]

ASTEROID FLYBY: Today, May 28th, newly-discovered asteroid 2012 KP24 is flying past Earth only one-tenth the distance to the Moon. Amateur astronomer Rolando Ligustri photographed the 26-meter space rock during the early hours of May 28th when it was about 350,000 km from our planet: image. Measurements of the asteroid's orbit confirm that there is no danger of a collision with Earth. Small Asteroids Spotted Late Whizzing Close By Earth - Part I

3 fireballs in the Arizona sky 7:40pm 5/22/2012

As I have stated many times before, I believe these ultra strange slow moving fireballs are most likely huge sparks of cosmic consciousness... These reports are all strange but these objects seem to arrive and then just disappear without a trace... Presumably, they are taking up residence inside our planet.... I believe these objects act like cosmic 'neurons' and help the Earth organise it's internal and external functions... And why not? There are many things about this planet that we know next to nothing about but the evidence if you care to look, is that Earth has many normally "invisible" helpers.... One metaphysical source that I know of has been very clear that there is a changing of the guard taking place... 'Placeholders' are leaving and 'master entities' from all over the galaxy are arriving... I believe these are similar objects to 'ghost' rockets (UFOs) that have been seen on occasion over the decades... See archives for further comments.

Hunt is on for pieces of van-sized California meteor
New Scientist, 25th April 2012
Wanted: fragments of a minivan-sized meteor that exploded over northern California and Nevada on Sunday morning and may well have survived to strike Earth.

Meteorites – meteors that make landfall – can provide crucial information about the chemical composition of the early solar system. "It's like getting sample return without having to go there," says Bill Cooke of NASA's Meteoroid Environment Office at the Marshall Space Flight Centre in Huntsville, Alabama.

However, meteorites are rare. Though meteors frequently streak across the sky, they tend to burn up before reaching the ground or they land in the sea. There's reason to think the recent meteor is different.

Apart from exploding over land, it created a sonic boom, so it must have stayed intact for long enough for it to get down into the denser air low in the atmosphere – just 16 kilometres above the Earth's surface, Cooke reckons – raising the chance that some of it hit the dirt.

Comment:
I suppose I am struggling with the idea that a rock the size of van went undetected.... it all seems very strange to me when astronomy glossaries only want to talk about meteors being made up of 'dust' and 'small' rocks...

Fireball Season - Interstellar Debris Field Gets Noticeable

SIERRA FIREBALL DECODED: On Sunday morning, April 22nd, just as the Lyrid meteor shower was dying down, a spectacular fireball exploded over California's Sierra Nevada mountain range. The loud explosion rattled homes from central California to Reno, Nevada, and beyond. According to Bill Cooke, head of NASA's Meteoroid Envronment Office, the source of the blast was a meteoroid about the size of a minivan.

"Elizabeth Silber at Western University has searched for infrasound signals from the explosion," says Cooke. "Infrasound is very low frequency sound which can travel great distances. There were strong signals at 2 stations, enabling a triangulation of the energy source at 37.6N, 120.5W. This is marked by a yellow flag in the map below."

"The energy is estimated at a whopping 3.8 kilotons of TNT (about one fourth the energy of the 'Little Boy' bomb dropped on Hiroshima), so this was a big event," he continues. "I am not saying there was a 3.8 kiloton explosion on the ground in California. I am saying that the meteor possessed this amount of energy before it broke apart in the atmosphere. [The map] shows the location of the atmospheric breakup, not impact with the ground."

"The fact that sonic booms were heard indicates that this meteor penetrated very low in atmosphere, which implies a speed less than 15 km/s (33,500 mph). Assuming this value for the speed, I get a mass for the meteor of around 70 metric tons. Hazarding a further guess at the density of 3 grams per cubic centimeter (solid rock), I calculate a size of about 3-4 meters, or about the size of a minivan."

"This meteor was probably not a Lyrid; without a trajectory, I cannot rule out a Lyrid origin, but I think it likely that it was a background or sporadic meteor."

Comment:
I noticed last week there was an awful lot of asteroids in the spaceweather.com table of 'Recent & Upcoming Earth-asteroid encounters'.... I think these must be smaller asteroids that are simply too small to detect, but it seems they are big enough to be spectacular as they burst through Earth's atmosphere and mostly burn up...

Fireball in broad daylight? April 2 Texas sighting confirmed; Meteor seen in Chicago Wednesday (Video)
Washington Post, 13th April 2012

Flip flop: Fireball streaking across daytime Texas sky called a jet contrail by NASA?
Extinction Protocol, 10th April 2012
The Texas sky lit up during the daytime last week, much to the surprise of thousands of people who witnessed it. So bright that it looked “like a little piece of the sun falling,” as one San Antonio resident told the local news station, the rare daytime meteor event was yet another example of the scientific mystery known as spring fireball season. According to NASA, 30 years of observations show that there’s a consistent uptick in the number of fireballs — meteors that glow brighter than the planets as they scorch through Earth’s atmosphere — during the spring compared with other times of the year. Yahoo News

Contrail or Meteor? A bright object that streaked across the Texas sky during the day April 4, originally believed to be a meteor burning up as it entered Earth’s atmosphere, was actually a flying jet and its contrail, a NASA scientist has confirmed. Space.com

Comment:
The reason for the flip-flop is simple, these fireballs are so huge and slow they cannot be classified as fireballs or meteors. I think they are some kind of plasma manifestation but in the past I have compared them to 'ghost rockets' because there is already a lot of historical UFO reports about this particular type of sighting. Well, I have great difficulty classifying these things because lightning and sprites are plasma phenomena but I don't think they demonstrate 'intelligence' in the same way as orbs and UFOs that seem to react to humans. Yet, these things are strange because they are big and slow but then can decide to turn in the sky for no reason that we can understand... Personally, I would prefer to believe this is some kind of 'placeholder' entity (a planet sized neuron) and it will go into the Earth at a particular location and that will be the last we see of it, but then of course, the traffic of these things is not really slowing down just yet. For more info see archives, Best of the Blog Fireballs, meteorites & strange 'heavenly phenomena'. I picked this particular image icon because the TV News coverage close-up reveals it is a similar orb-like structure with huge fiery trails.

Update: Texas Fireball Real After All, NASA Says
Live Science, 11th April 2012
So NASA has recanted.... Oh, so what! Yes, it is well known in certain circles that NASA stands for 'Never A Straight Answer', but they are in a massive bind.... They DO NOT want to admit what these objects are in the sky because UFOs are a major embarrassment. We have plasma entities that operate carte blanche and "controller" types have a real problem with this.... They would just prefer to keep tellling lots of lies and most people have switched off their brains (can't think, won't think), so the system works. For the few that are awake, it is obvious why NASA are flip-floping over and over again... We are also told there was a similar arrival in New Zealand too...

A strong meteor rain was in China - photo
hainanwel.com News, 22nd February 2012
The newspaper "News of Shenzhen" in Chinese today announced, that in the Chinese province of Qinghai was a strong meteor rain, during which on the land fell a several dozen meteorites, the largest of which reached a weight of 12.5 kg (see the photo at the top of this article). It is reported, that the local residents heard two loud explosions in the sky and then saw the traces of fire falling meteorites. While the investigated area is only about a few square kilometers, scientists may be able to find more meteorites in this place.

Comment:
Seriously, it was no very long ago (see archives), where authorities were telling us that meteors were quite rare occurences and now a few years later, it's raining meteors. I have now given up keeping track of meteor events unless they are spectacular.... The photo here is a large chunk too...

The fireballs of February
PhysOrg.com, 23rd February 2012
[...] "This month, some big space rocks have been hitting Earth's atmosphere," says Bill Cooke of NASA's Meteoroid Environment Office. "There have been five or six notable fireballs that might have dropped meteorites around the United States."

It’s not the number of fireballs that has researchers puzzled. So far, fireball counts in February 2012 are about normal. Instead, it's the appearance and trajectory of the fireballs that sets them apart.

"These fireballs are particularly slow and penetrating," explains meteor expert Peter Brown, a physics professor at the University of Western Ontario. "They hit the top of the atmosphere moving slower than 15 km/s, decelerate rapidly, and make it to within 50 km of Earth’s surface."

Comment:
Hmmm... the issue is the slowness of these meteors and how far they are penetrating into our atmosphere... I personally don't think these are rocks, I think we are seeing clumps of plasma, sparks of cosmic consciousness... If you check the archives, there is even an amazing eye witness account of astronomers thinking they were going to get hit and the thing just disappears without a trace, not even a bang... Meterologists have been calling them heavenly phenomenon which is cute...

Exploding UFO Meteor Wakes Thousands in SC (Video)
Gather News, 16th February 2012
A streaking flash of blue light, what many witnesses are calling a UFO, burst over the midnight skies of South Carolina early on Monday morning. What was it? No one really knows, but the object, caught on tape, has astronomers trying to allay fears in a nervous public.

The unidentified flying object was caught on a home security cam, reflected in the window of a parked car, and a nighttime sky camera which showed the UFO blasting through the sky trailed by a flashing tail.

Local astronomers were immediately consulted and tried to allay public fears by saying the OVNI was probably a comet or meteorite, even though such celestial phenomenon are usually well-known and expected by the time an object of this size burns up in the atmosphere.

Comment:
I was enticed by the image that looks similar to a fighter jet breaking the sound barrier, with TV news video. According to spaceweather.com we were not expecting any asteroids coming our way either, see Recent & Upcoming Earth-asteroid encounters, the listing here is for the 14th. I suppose these are relatively small rocks that are not detectable, that space scientists hope don't smash into a satellite before they plunge into Earth's atmnosphere and burn up. Except here we are told here that someone thinks it landed but there is no hole or meteorite remnants found yet.

Fireball in Texas sky was meteor, FAA says
WFAA.com, 1st February 2012
WFAA received more than 200 reports Wednesday night from people who said they saw what appeared to be a meteor streaking across the North Texas sky shortly after 8 o'clock.

Many people also said they heard what sounded like a sonic boom (or booms) associated with the fireball, which was apparently witnessed all the way from San Antonio to Oklahoma City.

The Federal Aviation Administration told TV station KWTX in Waco that it was a meteor.

Comment:
If it was really such a big meteor, why did it not leave a huge hole once it had landed? This is what spaceweather.com had to say Texas Meteor. Well, from the CNN video, it looks more like the arrival of a magnetospheric or magnetic plasmoid, a big round lump of conscious plasma presumably to take up residence on planet Earth. So far, all we can say is that these plasma entities usually break-up into smaller orbs once they get into Earth's lower atmosphere and then fly off to do their business. See archives for more videos and comments.

Asteroid makes near-miss fly-by
BBC News, 27th January 2012
An asteroid hurtled past the Earth on Friday in something of a cosmic near-miss, making its closest approach at about 1600 GMT. The asteroid, estimated to be about 11m (36ft) in diameter, was first detected on Wednesday.

At its closest, the space rock - named 2012 BX34 - passed within about 60,000km of Earth - less than a fifth of the distance to the Moon. Astronomers stressed that there had been no cause for concern.

Comment:
Another example of an asteroid that is virtually invisible in the interstellar debris field invading our solar system, that has only been detected at the last minute... According to spaceweather.com it's 0.2 LD, which is close but not that close.

Asteroid Flyby, 27th January 2012
spaceweather.com, 26th January 2012
ASTEROID FLYBY: Newly-discovered asteroid 2012 BX34 is flying past Earth today only 77,000 km (0.2 lunar distances) away. There is no danger of a collision with the 14-meter wide space rock. Advanced amateur astronomers might be able to observe the flyby as the bus-sized asteroid brightens to 14th magnitude just before closest approach on Jan. 27th at 1530 UT.
